Practice Groups

Southeastern Swim Club welcomes athletes of all ages and ability levels. Our groups are structured based on two factors: athlete age and ability level.

We use the date of the season's Age Group State meet to determine each athlete's age for that season. For our April-July season, that date is July 23, 2021.

Read below for a basic description of each practice group. If you are new to the team, you will need to go through a short evaluation process to determine the right group for your experience level.

Ages 10 & Under

Betta Fish: For swimmers with lessons experience only who aren't yet ready to join the competitive team but want to begin working on stroke technique and other swimming skills.

Flying Fish: For beginner-level swimmers. To join this group, each swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle with side breathing and 25 yards of backstroke.

Stingrays: For novice-level swimmers. Athletes will be moved from Flying Fish to Stingrays as they increase proficiency in all four strokes.

High School

Seniors: All high school aged athletes swim in the Senior group. Subgroups and lane assignments may be determined based on each swimmer's ability level but all athletes practice together as a team. Athletes will move to this group fall of their freshman year but may begin to practice with the group in the spring of their eighth-grade year.
