Board of Directors

Southeastern Swim Club is managed by a Board of Directors, volunteers responsible for guiding the future of our Club. They work closely with the coaching staff, school administration, and other parents to maintain our Club's structure and to provide a safe environment for our athletes.

Christian Hanselmann
Head Coach
[email protected]

I am the head coach of both SSC and HSE Swimming & Diving. I have been a part of the SSC family since I joined the team as an athlete in 2008. My coaching career started in 2009, with coaching positions at SSC, Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team, Brigham Young University, Tennessee Aquatics, Eastern Michigan University, Club Wolverine, the University of Tennessee, and Carmel Swim Club. My wife Jenny and I live in Carmel with our 3 children: Liam, Olivia, and Riley.

Dan Johnson
Founder & Treasurer

I have served on the SSC board since the club was founded in 1989 and have held various positions throughout the years. My wife Kaylee and I have two children, Luke and Kenli. I can often be found on deck coaching various groups as I always want to give anything I can to the next generation of SSC swimmers.

Matt Stolle

The Stolle Family joined SSC in 2011 and currently has three swimmers in the club. Anna swims with the Royal group, Evan came out of swimming retirement to join the Lionfish, and my wife Chrissy swims with the Southeastern Area Masters Swimming (SAMS) program. Much of my volunteer involvement for the club comes as a nationally certified USA Swimming Official. Whether serving as a Meet Referee or helping out with a Super Splash, I’m most often found on deck in a white shirt.

When not on a pool deck, I work as a Senior Financial Advisor & Vice President with Merrill Lynch. I’ve also been a competitive cyclist since age 14 and still enjoy the competition and advocacy within the sport. I currently sit on several non-profit boards including the Southeastern Swim Club, Indiana Swimming, and the Rollfast Foundation. Past board membership include the Hamilton Southeastern Education Foundation and Major Taylor Alliance.

It has been fun to watch our swimmers learn life skills and grow through the Southeastern Swim Club. I’m proud that our Club offers development programs for swimmers of all different skill levels. There is always a plan and path that our coaches have to help the swimmers reach their goals. I’m excited to watch SSC’s continued growth under our new Head Coach and look forward to contributing new ideas to benefit both the swimmers and their families.

My family has been a part of Southeastern Swim Club since 2014. My wife Jenny and I have two daughters. Elise (15) is in the Senior group and Annie (12) is a Sea Dog. During swim meets and Super Splashes, I am most likely volunteering at the head table where I work as an Admin Official. I think our club runs the smoothest meets and I'm proud to be a part of helping make that happen.

Away from the pool, I teach physics and coach cross country at Hamilton Southeastern High School.

Because of the friendships we've developed during our time with the club, we consider SSC to be an extension of our family. The coaches and parents have had a major impact on the social and athletic development of our girls. I enjoy being a part of helping our club grow so that it can have the same positive impact on other families as it has had on ours.

Dean Hershman

The Hershman family has been involved with Southeastern Swim Club since 2016. All four of our children have been a part of the club over the last several years and completed swimming lessons through the club. Currently, our sons Drew and Dominic are proud members of the Royal group and high school team, and our daughter Lucy is in the Sharks group.

Amy and I believe the act of volunteering is key to success in an organization like SSC and have been actively involved since day one. You can usually find me serving as a voice on the mic or behind a camera lens sharing images from the meets. I previously have served as the Chairperson for Announcing 2019-2021 seasons and currently assist with SSC’s Social Media strategy.

Outside of volunteering for SSC, I work at Orbis Education as a Quality Control Specialist. I love spending time at home as a family, working outside on the lawn and garden, and supporting many clubs and events in our community that our children participate in!

We value the friendships gained through our activity with the Southeastern Swim Club. Our children have been surrounded by fantastic coaches and have developed strong friendships. We look forward to partnering with the club and other parent volunteers as we work to bring a rewarding experience to each individual in the club.

Janet Walker
[email protected]

The Walker family joined SSC in August 2016. My husband Ryan and I have two children, Payton and Colt. Payton swims in the Sea Dogs group. At swim meets you can find me on deck being a meet chair for various volunteer positions and cheering on SSC swimmers. I believe our board has done a tremendous job of guiding the club in the right direction and our amazing coaching staff works extremely hard at helping all athletes at various skill levels to reach their full potential.

Southeastern Swim Club has allowed our daughter and our entire family to form friendships that will last a lifetime. We really enjoy getting to know everyone and sharing this amazing experience together with other swim families. We love the camaraderie of SSC, it is like a big family and we are blessed to be a part of it.

I teach Discovery at Thorpe Creek Elementary. I have been a part of education for several years and I love working with children and seeing their growth and development throughout the years.

Chad Bailey

My family started with Southeastern Swim Club in the Fall of 2016. My wife Kristin and I have two boys, Camden & Bennett. Camden is currently in the Bluefins group while Bennett is in the Stingrays. I am an active USA Swimming official and volunteer on deck as either a Stroke/Turn official or Starter. In addition, I am a licensed IHSAA swimming official to help when HSE annually hosts either the boys or girls IHSAA Sectional meets. My wife has spent the past two seasons as the SSC President’s Council representative for the Flying Fish group.

Outside of SSC, I am the managing director for Intrepid Financial, a registered investment advisory firm. I also volunteer to coach youth baseball through the Mudsock Youth Athletics league in the spring.

My family and I are appreciative of the discipline and support our boys have received over the years from the SSC Coaches as well as the friendships made along the way.

Kyle Hultgren

The Hultgren family has been swimming with SSC since 2015. My wife, Anne, and I have two daughters. Molly is a Bluefin and Eleanor is a Sea Dog. Both of them started in Flying Fish and have come up through the club over the years. I can usually be found on deck wearing a white polo shirt as an official. Additionally, I have served (and currently serve) as a Meet Director for the Age Group State Championship Meet, something our club has taken pride in hosting and staffing for many years.

Professionally, I work at Purdue University where I am the Director of the Center for Medication Safety Advancement, a research center focused on reducing the harm associated with medication use. In my spare time, when I'm not on the pool deck, I am a pilot, a general aviation enthusiast, and love the Chicago Cubs.

SSC has been immeasurably important in the growth of our daughters and to our whole family. The club is defined by its membership, and we could not imagine a more wonderful group of people to share our journey with. Even after all of these years, coming to the pool still brings a smile to all of our faces.
