Flying Fish Weekly Updates

Apr 15, 2019

Welcome to Southeastern Swim Club and the Flying Fish!  We are excited to have your child participate with us during the Long Course season! We had a great start to our first week of practice- we spent some time during our dryland activities getting to know our teammates.  During the first week in the pool, we spent time introducing/reviewing freestyle drills.  We will continue that review this week and also begin introducing/reviewing backstroke drills and the start progressions to be start-certified.  For those returning swimmers, we will also begin working on breaststroke/butterfly drills and starts from the blocks. I will be sending out a weekly e-mail with important information so please be sure to read through these weekly updates.

1.  Practice Calendar- A few updates have been made to the online practice schedule for the next few weeks.  Please make a note of the practice schedule by following this online link... And please note- if we need to make any changes to the online calendar, those changes will be addressed in the weekly update e-mails.

2.  Equipment- Please be sure to have your swimmers ready for practice on a nightly basis.  They need to have tennis shoes, shorts/t-shirt and a water bottle for each practice.  They will also need their equipment bag (flippers/kickboard) for each practice.  If you have not purchased equipment yet, please visit Elsmore Swim Shop (4705 E 96th St, Indianapolis, IN 46240). Let them know you are with SSC/Flying Fish and you will receive a discount on your purchases.

3. Team Parent- As a new season starts, we are looking for a parent (or two) who might be interested in being our groups' Team Parent.  This is a volunteer position (similiar to a room parent) that brings in snacks after practice on an occasional basis.  As the Team Parent, you will receive a check from the club to provide snacks throughout the season.  Typically, snacks are distributed every 2 weeks- no set schedule on when they are distributed.  Smart budgeting on smaller items/sale items will stretch this money pretty far. If you are interested in being the Team Parent this long course season- please let me know.

4. Upcoming Meet Deadlines...

Our SSC-hosted Sizzler meet is coming up very soon.  If you have a swimmer interested in participating, please e-mail me with any questions.

May 1st: Sugar Creek 12 &Under/Clayton Shaw (St. Louis)- Flying Fish are cleared to participate in the Sugar Creek meet. If your swimmer is interested in participating in the St. Louis meet- please e-mail me to see if it is recommended.

May 15th: May Super Splash ( May 17th) and Enchanted Forest.  If you have questions about participating in the Enchanted Forest meet, please e-mail me to see if it is recommended.

June 15th: June Super Splash

5. Team Activity for Flying Fish...Stay tuned for additional information...I am working on a Team Activity for all the current Flying Fish.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with your child!  I look forward to helping them become better swimmers this season and have lots of fun doing so!  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at or text me at 317-331-8948.
