Week 10 - June 10 to June 16

This Week

HSE's Summer Gym swimming program starts this week, which will force a change to our morning practice times Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week and Monday through Thursday of next week.

I am very sorry - I miscommunicated our Summer Gym practice time in the last email as it is a change from last summer; the online calendar has also been updated. These practices will be from noon to 2 pm. If you already made transportation plans for the later time and are unable to change them, please let me know immediately. This is completely my fault and I apologize for my mistake. We will do our best to accommodate any athlete this mistake impacts.

We will offer "Competitive Groups" practices this week on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm.

Sugar Creek Invite

Congratulations on a great, meet Royals - we won the team competition and had a number of athletes from this group recognized as high point winners in their age groups, including:

  • Avery Hannon (1st, 10-year-old girls)
  • Izzy Heuck (2nd, 11-year-old girls)
  • Grace Robinson (3rd, 11-year-old girls)
  • Aiden Stivers (2nd, 11-year-old boys)

Congratulations not only to these athletes, but to all who competed!

Wanted to recognize Jihoon Jung, who represented Team Indiana at the Central Zone Multicultural Meet in Edwardsville, IL this past weekend. Jihoon helped lead Team Indiana to victory over the other nine teams in attendance, taking part in two winning relay teams and placing second in the 50 fly, third in the 100 fly, and fifth in the 50 breast. Congratulations Jihoon!

Evening Practices

These practices, available to all athletes in the Sharks, Intermediates, and Juniors, will each focus on a specific topic. These are not meant to replace our morning practices; only to add additional opportunites for skill development. I encourage you to make it to as many of these as possible.

These dates are reflected on our group calendar and are also listed below.

  • Tuesday, June 11: Backstroke Turns and Breakouts
  • Thursday, June 13: Free and Fly Breakouts
  • Tuesday, June 18: Breaststroke Turns and Pullouts
  • Tuesday, June 25: Starts and Relay Exchanges
  • Thursday, June 27: Backstroke Starts
  • Tuesday, July 2: Freestyle Hip/Shoulder/Body Driven Strokes
  • Tuesday, July 9: Racing Finishes

Summer Gym

Please note the dates impacted by Summer Gym this week (Wednesday through Friday only) and next week (Monday through Thursday).

As stated above, I messed up the time for these practices, which has been corrected on our practice calendar. The correct times are also on the weekly schedule above. Our time during Summer Gym (June 12 - 21), will be noon to 2 pm. I am sorry for my mistake in communicating the incorrect time.

Team Suit "Exception" Meets

As outlined in our team uniform policy, athletes should wear our team suit for all in-season competitions. We do offer a handful of exceptions to this rule, and as some of these meets are coming in the next few weeks, I wanted to call these dates to attention below:

  • CSP Invitational (June 21-23)
  • Noblesville Enchanted Forest (July 12-14)

I strongly recommend that you do not go purchase a tech suit specifically for these meets - ideally, athletes would be wearing a suit from a previous season and saving any potential purchase of a racing suit for their championship meet.

Of course, tech suits are also allowed for all end-of-season championship meets (Last Chance Time Trial, Age Group State, Divisionals, and Zones).
