Flying Fish Weekly Update

Week 13 (November 29 – December 3)

How is it almost December already?  Congratulations to all that swam at the Thanksgiving Super Splash, I’m very proud of all of the progress that this group is making!  We are going to continue to work on butterfly and breaststroke technique this week and hopefully get some time in the competition pool as well to work on starts and other skills.

***REMINDER*** Please also continue to be prepared to do dryland every day before practice, Coach Cassidy and I ask that everyone wears shorts/sweatpants, t-shirt and tennis shoes for these activities!

This week we will have practice on:

This will be a normal week!  We should be getting our December/Winter Break schedule soon so I will be sure to pass that information along as soon as I have it.

Upcoming Meets/Events:

  • “Positive-Impact Parenting” Meeting: We are starting a series of nights called Positive-Impact Parenting (name still a work in progress).  Parents and coaches need to form a partnership in order to best help each swimmer develop, both athletically and in terms of life skills.  The purpose of this night is to help coaches and parents form that partnership and work towards the end goal for each athlete: improved life skills and increased athletic potential.  Please RSVP in order to give us an idea of how big a room we will need to reserve!
  • December Closed Invite at CGAC: The deadline for this meet is TODAY: Monday, November 29.  If you are interested in having your swimmer participate in this meet, please let me know as I have to approve our group entries! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

  • Please plan to park in the athletic lot (by the football stadium) and enter through door #10.  Coaches will meet swimmers at the door before practice as well as walk them out to door #9 at the completion of practice.  We ask that parents drop swimmers off no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the beginning of practice and try to pick up their swimmers no later than 10 minutes after our listed end time of 6:20pm.  We also ask that you walk up to door 9 to pick up your swimmers, we will not walk them to the parking lot or to the curb.  This is also a time where we can quickly get information out to families so having someone walk up to pick up your swimmers will be very helpful to us!  I understand that sometimes it can be difficult to get within the small timeframes so if anyone has questions or concerns please let me know!
  • Any changes to our schedule will be sent out through our weekly updates.
  • Please take a look at your kiddos equipment to make sure that they have all of their own stuff!  Also please be sure to have their name written on ALL pieces of their equipment and remind them to look before taking/putting equipment in their bags to make sure it is theirs.  If you discover that you have someone else’s equipment, please make sure to send it back so we can get it returned to the right kiddo!
