Champions in the Pool.

Champions in Life

Our Assistant & Junior Coaches

Meet our Assistant and Junior coaching staff! Take some time to learn more about these coaches who can always be found on our pool deck at Southeastern Swim Club. Our Junior coaching staff are current Royals athletes who wish to share the sport of swimming with younger members of the club. All of our Assistant and Junior staff believe in teaching athletes following our vision: Champions in the pool. Champions in life.

Cori Shumway

Assistant Coach

Cori has been around the swimming world for 20 years. From the age of 5 until she was 17, she swam competitively on a year-round club team. She swam during high school, qualified for Junior Nationals, and was recruited by college coaches. After high school, Cori swam collegiately at New Mexico State University and coached private swim lessons during her summer breaks.

After her athletic swimming career, she coached part-time at the YMCA in St. Louis, with breaks in between to grow her family. She never truly stopped swimming and is now teaching her three daughters how to swim as they get older!

Cori cannot wait to share her passion and personal knowledge about swimming with younger athletes and help them achieve their own goals with positive affirmations, technique, skill work, and lots of fun!

"I feel mentally strong, I can stay positive throughout competition!" - Cori Shumway
