SSC Head Coach

CEO
SSC Head Coach

Christian Hanselmann has been a part of the Southeastern Swim Club family since the summer of 2008 and has been proud to have SSC as his home club ever since.

He returned to the team in the summer of 2021 as the head coach of both SSC and HSE Swimming and Diving. Christian values the long-term athletic development and personal development of the swimmers that he coaches.

His coaching career started in 2009, with coaching positions at SSC, Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team, Brigham Young University, Tennessee Aquatics, Eastern Michigan University, Club Wolverine, the University of Tennessee, and Carmel Swim Club. Christian swam and studied at Brigham Young University prior to obtaining his MS in Sport Psychology from the University of Tennessee. He and his wife Jenny live in Carmel with their 3 children: Liam, Olivia, and Riley.

Ben Wachtel

Head Age Group Coach

Head Age Group Coach

Ben Wachtel started coaching with Southeastern in 2013 and has worked with just about all ages and ability levels. He is the head Age Group coach and the head coach of the Bluefins group for advanced 12-14 year-olds. In his time at Southeastern, he has guided athletes to a number of individual and relay state championships and team records.

Coach Ben is a graduate of Westfield High School and was the school's first individual state champion in any sport, winning a total of four individual state titles at the IHSAA state championships, and was inducted into the Indiana High School Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame in 2011. He also swam for Purdue, where he was a team captain for two years, a school record holder, and still ranks in the top 10 in the sprint freestyle events (though he hopes not for much longer). He qualified for Olympic Trials in 2012, where he represented his home club team, SSC!

Ben loves building relationships and guiding young people to be better, stronger, and tougher. He believes swimming teaches young people to take ownership of their own success and helps impart valuable life lessons about the value of hard work, dedication, grit, goal-setting, teamwork, leadership, and responsibility.

Erin Fisher

Business Manager
Volunteer Coordinator

Erin Fisher is the Business Manager for the club and manages billing, accounts, and any other business-related areas of the "dry" side of swimming. Erin has been a parent within SSC for 12 years and began serving as our business manager in 2022. She is an excellent resource for helping others navigate the swimming world. If you need to know how to register, how meets work, what is the difference between short course versus long course, what are the various cuts and times, and more- Erin is who you are looking for! There are many aspects to this sport that can be confusing and Erin is always ready to help make that transition easier.

Erin and her husband Jeff have been active in the club since 2010. They have 3 kids, Jordan lives in Orlando, Austin lives in Colorado Springs, and Kennedy (their swimmer) is a 2022 graduate of HSE and is now swimming for the University of Arizona.

Blake Brewer is the Director of Marketing & Social Media for SSC, the head coach of the Stingrays group, and brings a high level of energy and passion to SSC. He assists with Royals and Masters daily as well as runs our swim lesson program.

Previously, Blake has fulfilled various coaching and aquatics director duties with Carmel Swim Club, the Bridgewater Club, Azionaqua, and Lawrence Swim Team, where he was the head coach of the Lawrence Central High School team. In these positions, he coached a wide variety of ages, abilities, and experience levels.

Blake is a Zionsville and Ball State University graduate who lives in Greenfield with his wife Jordan, son Liam, and their two dogs, Toby and Kaia. Swimming is ingrained in who he is, and his passion is helping young athletes learn and understand a sport that he has loved for over 20 years.

He loves coaching with Southeastern because it feels like a family - from the close-knit coaching staff to the enthusiasm of the athletes, he is proud to be part of a team that helps each other every day.

Heather Streett

Director of Recruitment
Director of 10&U Development

Director of Recruitment
Director of 10&U Development

Heather Streett has been with Southeastern for over 25 years and has played a formative role in the development of countless state champions, All-Americans, team captains, and collegiate athletes. It often starts with Coach Heather - she is SSC's director of recruitment, has run the swim lesson program, and has been a summer league coach for almost 20 years. Come to the HSE high school end-of-year banquet and you'll hear senior speeches that look back to where it all began, with Coach Heather. (She probably took their senior photos, too!)

A graduate of Zionsville High School and DePauw University, Heather swam for 12 years and in high school was a three-year state meet qualifier. She loves swimming because it is such a great activity to strengthen the whole body, is a life-long activity, and makes you safer around the water. She also loves all the skills the sport teaches, including time management, goal-setting, developing great habits, handling adversity, team spirit, and lasting friendships.

She and her husband Kenny live in Fishers with their son, Keegan, and daughter, Harper. She loves photography, travel, and spending time with family and friends.

Rachel Burke

Webmaster

Rachel is a lifelong swimmer who finished her swimming career at Butler University in 2019 and earned a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering and Mathematics. As a Bulldog, she was a team captain, a 3-time Big East qualifier in the backstroke and 500 freestyle events, and a 4-year varsity letter winner. In her junior and senior years, she was named a Top 100 Most Outstanding Student, being named in the Top 15 her senior year, for her scholarship, leadership, and service to others. She is currently pursuing her MBA at Butler with a concentration in Leadership.

In May 2018, Rachel was the USMS National Champion in the 1000-yard freestyle. As a high school and club swimmer, she was a state qualifier, sectional champion, and conference champion in multiple events. In her senior year, she was named a NISCA Academic All-American. She attended Mt. Vernon High School near Evansville.

Rachel loves sharing her passion for swimming with young athletes. Her goal is always to help swimmers be the best they can be, and more importantly, have fun! Many of her best friendships were made by being in the water, and she says being involved with swimming helped her become the person she is today.

Rachel is no stranger to SSC's team culture- in high school, Rachel and her team joined SSC's summer Senior Trip three times. She counts these memories among her favorite experiences as an athlete. The trip helped her find what kind of school she wanted to attend for college and build relationships with other swimmers and coaches, eventually leading her to coach with SSC!
