He returned to the team in the summer of 2021 as the head coach of both SSC and HSE Swimming and Diving. Christian values the long-term athletic development and personal development of the swimmers that he coaches.

His coaching career started in 2009, with coaching positions at SSC, Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team, Brigham Young University, Tennessee Aquatics, Eastern Michigan University, Club Wolverine, the University of Tennessee, and Carmel Swim Club. Christian swam and studied at Brigham Young University prior to obtaining his MS in Sport Psychology from the University of Tennessee. He and his wife Jenny live in Carmel with their 3 children: Liam, Olivia, and Riley.

Tripp Montgomery

Royal 2 Head Coach (Competitive 15&O/High School)

Royal 2 Head Coach

Tripp Montgomery joined SSC in the Fall of 2022. He is no stranger to swimming, having been a swimmer himself and a coach of all ages and skill levels, including learn-to-swim, summer league, USA Swimming, high school, US Masters, YMCA, and the NCAAs. Tripp leads the Lionfish Gold and the Royal 2 groups.

Coach Tripp swam for Auburn University from 1991 to 1995. He started as a walk-on athlete and became a scholarship athlete, earning All-American honors. Tripp has been coached by some of the most recognized coaches in the world, including the 2016 Olympic Swim Team Coaches David Marsh and Mark Bottom. Outside of swimming, he has been influenced by his experience on Wall Street, as his first career was working as a clerk trader on the New York Stock Exchange.

Tripp has coached at many organizations including Nitro Swim Club (Texas), Carolina Aquatics (South Carolina), The Race Club (California), Temecula Swim Club (California), and, most recently, the Fishers YMCA. While with these organizations, Tripp worked with athletes that competed at Age Group State, Senior State, and YMCA Nationals.

Throughout his experience, Tripp has learned that potential exists in the details. He believes swimmers can find success by consistently doing the right things both in and out of the pool. Tripp loves teaching athletes to embrace challenges and to have an optimistic attitude, both of which are two of the core values of SSC!
