UPDATE: The IHSA has given high schools a plan for sports and now we continue to wait for approval from a few sources.  In addition to getting the many approvals, LFHS is currently working to fix/upgrade the HVAC and air handlers in the pool to optimize air flow.  The school wants to make sure all environments inside the building are as safe as possible before they move further.  Again, I hope that the ability of the high school team gaining access to LFHS pool is a step in the right direction for Scout Aquatics to get in as well.

Scout Aquatics swimmers that are LFHS registered students were able to get into Lake Bluff the last two weeks.  Both the Athletic Director and the Assistant Athletic Director have come to see the whole process from arrival to getting into the water.  They approved of all our safety precautions and our professionalism during this trial period.  We were able to demonstrate how swimming can be done safely, with both the swimmers and coaches, in and around the pool.

We will let families know of any upcoming opportunities when we get them from the high school.  Thank you to everyone for being patient and understanding during this difficult time.  Go Scouts!

SAFE SPORT:  We are so close!  We just need a few more parents to review the Safe Sport training!  One of the jobs I’ve been working on the last few weeks is to get our team recognized as a SAFE SPORT certified team.  I have done everything I can do to get the certificate, so now I am asking you for help!  I need more of BOTH swimmers and parents to take the SAFE SPORT training.  The link is below (parents follow the non-member access).  We need a minimum of 10% of the team (10% parents and 10% athletes) to do this, so this will be posted regularly until completed.  (We are at 7.2% for parents and 16.4% for swimmers!!)  THANK YOU for helping make our team even better!  This is now mandatory for all teams to complete by November, so your help is very much appreciated.

OFFICIALS: Interested in becoming an official?  During these crazy times it’s easier than ever to get your training done.  More information on becoming an official is on the Illinois Swimming site.  Click the link below!  Got more questions?  Ask either Marilyn Wieland (our officials rep.) or Shane Koonce (both an official and our board president).
