Tom & Kim Strieker

We are excited to announce and welcome Coach Thomas Gerek as the Head Swim Coach of the Sheridan Swim Team!

Coach Thomas grew up in Onaga, Kansas. He is looking forward to returning to the Midwest and being closer to home.

Thomas started swimming at the age of 8 for the Topeka Swim Association in Kansas. After 10 years with TSA, Thomas went on to Henderson State University and competed as a scholarship swimmer in the 100 and 200 free and back events. Thomas graduated in 2003 with a Bachelors degree in Art History.  In 2006 Thomas completed his Masters of Business Administration in Business Management.

After college, Thomas took several years away from swimming. Then found his passion through coaching. His first coaching job was in 2014 with the Spring Swim Team in Houston, TX. He also assisted in coaching the Windrose summer league team.

Two years later  Thomas moved on to Conway, Arkansas and started coaching for the Aquakids. After a brief stay and “many heartfelt goodbyes,” Thomas moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where he has been apart of the Marlins of Raleigh coaching staff for three years.

Thomas is currently coaching swimmers of all ages and different levels. The Marlins of Raleigh is a Gold Medal Swim Club which is the  highest level of recognition amongst USA Swimming clubs, placing 11 th  overall in the 2019 Club Excellence program rankings.

Coach Thomas is coming to the Sheridan Swim Team with glowing referrals from the Marlins and he is excited to be apart of our Team! Coach Thomas is finishing his season with the Marlins and looking forward to being on deck at Sheridan the first week of April. We will announce a meet and greet with Coach Thomas with more details to follow soon!
