Illinois Swimming

Team Updates

Tom & Kim Strieker

Short Course Season is back.  We have Swim Meets rolling (Columbia in January; Hosted a Dual with Sullivan on Opening Weekend in February, Hannibal meet in early March, four qualifiers going Speedo Sectional mid-March, and our season finale March 19-21 in Peoria that is open to everyone, so get signed up by March 8th).

Illinois Swimming Championships are following our neighboring sanction lead and have a virtual championship.  This means everyone going to a meet makes it on the leaderboard.  Sanctioned Meets between March 5- April 20.  Pretty neat idea to give everyone a shot.  The Peoria meet is the only one on our schedule that is sancitoned, so please get signed up.  The Speedo Sectional results will also be submitted for that group.

Remember as we open up, that COVID protocols are still in place.  Please do your part so that no one has to be the halll monitor.  Wear masks to/fro practice and locker rooms, 4 swimmers to a lane, keep 6 feet+ distance from each other out of the water, and do not come to practice if experiencing any flu-like symptoms, no matter how minor they may seem.  Health screenings by parents are still expected.

We will have a 2-week break after the Peoria meet.  Then start back April 5th with what is called Long Course Season.  However, meets may be a mix of both Long Course (50M) and Short Course (25Y).  Coach Thomas is working hard to set up a lineup, but if you know of meets in April through July, then please share with him.  We are also going forward with plans for River Country Summer League to run around the 1st of June through August 7th.

We will need to get everyone to register for the Long Course season so that paperwork is signed electronically understanding the terms and conditions on health, policies, and finances.  Lastly, if you have any balances left for Short Course, then please get them paid by March 15th.  Nothing worse than volunteer parents having to try to turn into collection agents on their friends and fellow parents.  Do the decent thing.  There is no invoices for March timeframe, since everyone should technically be paid up with fees by end of February and only thing left should be meet fees.

Thanks, God Bless, and Happy Swimming.
