9 Cardinal Aquatics Swimmers at Olympic Trials!
Olympic Trials will be swum much different this year due to the pandemic. This year the meet will be split into 2 weeks....Wave 1 and Wave 2. The Olympic Team will be chosen at Wave 2, however, the top 2 swimmers in each event from Wave 1 have the opportunity to go on to compete in Wave 2. In a "normal" year, there is only 1 cut to qualify for OT. Due to needing to limit numbers in the facility, USA Swimming had the original Trials cut and then added a faster cut to qualify for Wave 2.
The format for Wave 1 will be Prelims and then top 16 to compete at Finals....top 2 go on to swim at Wave 2.
The format for Wave 2 will be Prelims, then top 16 compete at Semi Finals, then top 8 compete at Finals....top 2 make the US Olympic Team!
We have 9 Cardinal Aquatics swimmers (current, alumni, pros) competing over the 2 meets.
Wave 1 (June 4th - 7th) - Ella Welch (CURRENT TEAMMATE.....50 Free, 100 Free) and Michael Eastman (alumni) (50 Free, 100 Free)
Wave 2 (June 13th - 20th)- Nick Albiero (alumni....100 Fly, 200 Fly, 100 Back), Gabi Albiero (alumni...50 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Fly), Kaylee Wheeler (alumni...100 Breast), Kelsi Dahlia (pro....100 Fly, 200 Fly, 50 Free, 100 Free), Mallory Comerford (pro....50 Free, 100 Free), Zach Harting (pro....200 Fly, 100 Fly), Casey Fanz (pro....50 Free, 100 Free)

UofL (the BIG CARDS) also has a total of 31 swimmers competing....Let's cheer for them, too! Watching the swimmers that our kids see at the pool each day is not only exciting, but also builds hope that if these guys can be here, so can our kids one day!
