RACE Aquatics Swim Lessons have resumed on a limited basis. Please email [email protected] for more information.

Spring Lessons 2021

The BOD has approved our program to resume lessons on a limited basis. Our instructors are required to wear a mask at all times and keep hands-on contact with the swimmers to a minimum. The instructors have been permitted to get back in the water with the children for emergency purposes and if we remain 6 feet away from the children for greater than 50% of the lesson. The minimum age limit to participate in lessons is 4 years old. These guidelines limit lessons to our "advanced" and "intermediate" level children. Requirements are as follows:

Advanced--

  • Your child must be comfortable in the water
  • Your child can swim independently for short distances or remain on an assistive device, such as a noodle or kickboard, without a risk of falling off
  • Your child can follow instructions without continous reminders
  • Your child can wear a mask onto the pool deck and follow social distancing guidelines
  • Your child will be capable of being on the pool deck independently without a parent (there is a "no-observer policy" in effect with very few exceptions)

Intermediate--

  • Your child must be comfortable in the water
  • Your child can remain on an assistive device, such as a noodle or kickboard, without a risk of falling off (or is tall enough to stand on the bottom of the pool in the shallow end)
  • Your child can follow instructions without continous reminders
  • Your child can wear a mask onto the pool deck and follow social distancing guidelines
  • Your child will be capable of being on the pool deck independently without a parent (there is a "no-observer policy" in effect with very few exceptions)

Lessons will be scheduled on a weekly basis through email correspondence. The swim team's schedule is continously changing during the high school swim meet season, and the lessons program has to work around these changes to ensure all swimmers have appropriate lane space. We expect to be in the water between the hours of 4pm-7pm, Monday-Friday evenings, with variations in the specific lesson times weekly.

If your child qualifies for lessons, please send me an email with your child's name and age and indicate whether your child is considered "advanced" or "intermediate", and I will add you to our contact list so that you can recieve our weekly updates.

If your child does not currently qualify for lessons, but you would like to be added to our contact list to receive information on future lessons once we are able to get back in the water with the children, please send me an email as well.

If you are unsure whether your child would qualify for lessons, please send me an email with your child's abilities in the water and we can determine whether a "trial lessons" is warranted.

Here are the current pool guidelines--

Swimmers:

  1. Must pass coach- or parent-volunteer-administered temperature check to be allowed in the facility
  2. Wear masks from car to pool and back from pool to car after practice
  3. Enter via Lovers-Lane-end back door
  4. Maintain 6 feet or greater distance from others except when passing in the swim lanes
  5. Use the bathroom before departing for practice; bathroom use at pool for emergencies only
  6. No locker room or water fountain access; arrive with full water bottle (there is a new bottle-filler station that can be used for refills) and dressed in swim attire

Parents:

  1. Because of our default no-observation policy, parents requesting a situational waiver should email Coach Neil in advance (if this is a necessity, I can send out these forms)
  2. Only parents pre-approved will be allowed to observe
  3. Approved observers must pass coach- or parent-volunteer-administered temperature check to be allowed in
  4. Enter the pool with their swimmer via the back door on the Lovers-Lane-end of the pool, wear a mask, sit on the bleacher side of the pool, and maintain 6 feet or more from others
