Practice Changes This Week

  1. No am practice at Russell Sims Thursday, Friday, or Saturday because of the State Championships. State swimmers not competing on Thursday are encouraged to attend the Thursday pm practice at WKU, or, if in Etown Thursday pm, to swim there.
  2. All WKU pm practices will be held as scheduled.

Practice Schedule for the Remainder of the Season and Beginning of the New Season

With the exceptions noted above, practice will continue at Russell Sims and WKU on the current schedule through Saturday, August 3. We will then break for two weeks before resuming practice on Monday, August 19, when we hope to be back at WCAC.

12-and-Under State Results

RACE was represented by three athletes at last weekends Championship meet in Louisville. Caden Moseley swam four events in the boys 11-12 division including the 1 ba, dropping 1.02 seconds to 87.04. Addison Browning swam three events including the girls 11-12 1 ba, dropping 5 seconds to 88.34. Warren Gregory-Mabrey swam three events including the boys 10-and-under 1 fl, going 2.02.00 to claim 16th place, our best finish of the meet. Congratulations to all three swimmers for qualifying for this meet.

Jr/Sr Goal Sets Posted

We have recently completed the first round of LCM Jr/Sr goal sets. The Top 10 listings for all 10 goals sets can be found here or on the Swimmers tab. Avery Witcher leads the girls with 9 of the 10 top times while Luke Shourds leads the boys with 6 top rankings. Also achieving top rankings were Leah Witcher, Neal Wolfram, and Trey Wolfram.

2019 Olympic Training Center Visit (this note from KY Swimming)

Application Deadline:  Wednesday, August 15, 2019 - Midnight  
30 athletes:  5 per age group – per gender: 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18

Athletes will experience extensive training at the Olympic Training Center pool with three Kentucky Swimming coaches. In addition, there will be underwater filming of the group and dryland classes. Athletes will stay on the Olympic Training Center campus and eat at the cafeteria where Olympic athletes eat.
Kentucky Swimming's pool time is for our LSC only. Dorm rooms will be assigned according to KY Swimming ages usually 2-4 to a room. We will not know room assignments until USA Swimming sends a room schedule closer to time of event

Athlete Fee TBD: The Olympic Training center charges $90 per night per athlete. Kentucky Swimming will offset expenses. An estimated cost of $150 per athlete will be charged. Each athlete is responsible for their own flight. Kentucky Swimming will work with airline to block some seats on flights out of Louisville/Lexington. Coaches’ flights will be at the same time, so athletes can use them as their chaperone to waive airline's youth handling fee.

When applying for this event, it is considered a signed commitment that you will participate if selected.

If you have applied but find out before the application deadline, August 15, 2018, that you are unable to keep this commitment, please notify the KY Swimming office immediately.kyswim@kylsc.org


Your failure to participate after the team has been named may impact your selection to future teams by Kentucky Swimming.
