Boys’ KYLSC State, March 19-21, Kudos

RACE had 15 participants and relays in 10u, 13-14, and open divisions. Like the girls last week, our boys finished 8th as a team out of 22 scoring teams.

Individual notes:

  • Landon Badstibner medalled in the mile with an 8th, dropping 6 seconds to 17.19.90. He also swam ba on both TR-setting medley relays.
  • Peyton Black improved dropped his 1 fl under 54 for the first time, finishing in 53.95.
  • Brian Bosse crushed a 60.6 2nd leg on the 14-and-under 11th-place 4 fr relay.
  • Parker Cummings made 3 finals including big swims in the 1 (61.15) and 2 (2.11.77) ba
  • Charlie Dreadin dropped 5 to anchor the 10u 8th-place 2 fr relay and then dropped another second to anchor the 10u 2 med relay.
  • Cody Ell dropped his 1 fl to 54.08 and swam on all 3 TR-setting relays.
  • Grant Harper ripped a 59.95 3rd leg on the 14-and-under 11th-place 4 fr relay.
  • Kade Kasprisin dropped 3 sec on his leg of the 10u 8th-place fr relay as well as on his fl leg of the 2 med relay
  • Ethan Luis had RACE’s biggest drop of the meet (25 secs) in the 16.5, breaking the 18-minute mark (17.50.93) and becoming a minor social media sensation for his lap-counting antics during Landon’s mile.
  • Caden Moseley made the 13-14 2 ba State cut, dropping 3 seconds (2.20.99).
  • Luke Shourds won the 50 (20.87) and 1 (54.16) fr and the 2 br (2.01.17), all TRs along with his 1 br (54.56), and swam on all 3 TR-setting relays.
  • Sho Tashiro dropped a second in the 1 im (94.22) and swam on both 8th-place medley relays.
  • Canaan Timberlake swam the TR-setting 4 fr relay, splitting 51.21 on the 3rd leg.
  • Noah Walters finished top-8 and PR’d in all of his events.
  • Drew Wolfram raced 14 times over the 3 days including 4 final PRs in the 1 (50.34) and 2 (1.56.56) fl and in the 1 (53.59) and 2 (1.54.22) ba and was a member of all 3 TR-setting relays.

  • Open 4 fr (3.12.41)—Cody Ell, Drew Wolfram, Canaan Timberlake, and Luke Shourds (beat previous TR [set by same foursome in December] by 6 seconds)
  • Open 4 med (3.29.05)—Landon Badstibner, Luke Shourds, Drew Wolfram, Cody Ell (this was our highest relay finish at 3rd)
  • 2 med (97.60)-- Landon Badstibner, Luke Shourds, Drew Wolfram, Cody Ell

 

Gargantuan Swim Award—Luke Shourds, open 100 fr

  • Dropped half a second in prelims to 46.47
  • Dropped another 1.1 in finals with an aggressive race plan to win by a touch in 45.31, a new TR

 

Relay Big Award—Charles Dreadin

  • Dropped 5 (33.80) anchoring the 8th-place 10u 2 fr relay with an aggressive arm circle (9 of 10 on his exchange)
  • Dropped another second (32.83) to anchor the 8th-placed 10u 2 med relay in 2.46.31

 

Swimmer of the Meet—Noah Walters

  • Statistically perfect meet: 8 of 8 prelim PRs, 6 of 6 final PRs, 3 of 3 relay PRs
  • Ambitious, focused racing with 6 top-three finishes
