Kraken Swimming Middle School Swimming Program

Kraken Swimming provides regionalized training for many area middle schools.  Currently participating are Hubbard, Liberty, West Middlesex and Howland.  We welcome any area middle school to contact us about starting a club team.  The process is simple - swimmers pay a monthly fee to belong to our program and we take care of the rest.  Our qualified coaches will provide the training in the pool. Additionally, all coaches have the proper OHSAA Certifications and will schedule your athletes into our mini-invitationals.  The coaching staff will also represent swimmers at the swim meets.

Kraken swimming can represent individual swimmers from a specific middle school or an entire team!  Let us know if your school is interested in forming a team and we can send flyers to all grade levels to help build your program at the school.

Middle Schools have the option of Subsidized or Non-Subsidized participation.

  • Subsidized = The school approves Kraken Swimming to coach their students and pays the student's training fees.

  • Non-Subsidized = The school approves Kraken Swimming to coach their students but the student pays their own training fees

Swimmers may participate in the Middle School program only or swim year round with our USA Swimming Kraken Swim Team.

Service Hour Commitment

The Service Hour Commitment does not apply to swimmers participating in the Middle School Season Only.

Kraken Swimming counts on its members to volunteer their time to promote unity and to enable the club to thrive by hosting successful events. For this reason, each family participating in the USA Swimming Season is required to complete a total of 12 Service Hours per swimming season.

Swim meets, fundraisers and other club events have specific jobs that will qualify for Service Hours.  Jobs will be posted for each event on the team website and will be available for selection on a first come basis. Some jobs may be restricted to individuals with specific training and/or qualifications, but there is plenty of work to go around.

A family may “buy out” of their Service Hour Commitment for a total of $120 at the beginning of the USA Season.  If this option is not selected at the time of registration, accounts with insufficient Service Hours as of March 1 will be charged at the rate of $15/per hour for their unfulfilled obligation.  Accounts must be settled prior to the end of the year banquet.

Swim Meets

For swimmers participating in the USA Swimming Season, there is an additional charge for USA Swim Meets.  The fees are set by the swim team hosting the meet but will typically cost ~$15-$25 per swimmer based on the number of events for which he/she is registered.  It is mandatory that all swimmers participate in home swim meets that take place outside of the MS swimming season.  Away meets are optional.

Away meets are typically held in the Cleveland/Akron/Canton area.  Meets are held on the weekends and are broken into 2 sessions per day - typically divided by age group.

Kraken Swimming Banquet

Kraken Swimming will host a banquet at the end of the USA Swimming season.  Participation is not required but is certainly encouraged to celebrate our swimmers hard work and successes.  There is no charge for swimmers, but there is a per person charge to cover the cost of food for all others who wish to attend.

Kraken Swim-A-Thon

The Swim A Thon is the one and ONLY fundraiser for Kraken Swimming.  This fundraiser is MANDATORY for Middle school.  Each swimmer will raise $100 or more in pledges. This helps pay for the end of the year banquet, and equipment.
