Eric Peterson 

Director & Head Coach / Lead SR & Masters Coach - Shaker Site

Coach Peterson is entering his 17th year with Sharks Swimming. Prior to coming to the Sharks Coach Peterson spent 10 years in Kent, Ohio as the Head Coach of the Western Reserve Seariders and as the Head Coach of the Kent Rosevelt High School Swimming and Diving Team.  Coach Peterson also coached the Tallmadge Middle School and High School Teams. Since coming to the Sharks, Coach Peterson has been named Coach of the Year for the high school conference numerous times. He serves on the Executive Board for the Ohio High School Swim Coaches Association, currently as the President-Elect. He has coached several state champions, numerous state qualifiers and has had 7 All-Americans.  Coach Peterson has been involved with Lake Erie Swimming, serving on the Board of Directors and multiple times as Head Zone Team coach.  He has also work as a counselor and the Director for the Stanford National Swim Camps. Coach Peterson is married to his wife; Sarah and they have 5 children- Oliver, Paige, Charlotte, Isabelle and Jack. 


 

Steve Jacobs

Head Age Group Coach / Lead Platinum Coach - Shaker Site

Coach Steve joined the Sharks in the fall of 2020 as the Head Age Group Coach. Before joining the Sharks, he was the Associate Head Coach of Cleveland Elite Aquatics (formerly University Swim Club), where he spent the previous five years. Under Coach Steve's leadership, CEA started a new site at Euclid High School which grew from 10 to 90 members in less than 3 years and produced perennial Zone and National qualifiers. He was also the Head Coach for both the Euclid and Wickliffe High School swim teams, where he coached multiple district qualifers and saw a swimmer achieve All-Ohio honors at the State meet. Coach Steve is passionate about helping swimmers learn to challenge themselves while developing the passion, drive, and discipline required to take their next step, be it their first NAG time or their first national level cut. 
 
Coach Steve grew up swimming in Northeast Ohio competing for the Western Reserve Seasriders, Firestone Akron Swim Team, the Shaker Sharks, and Kent Roosevelt High School. He competed collegiately at Case Western Reserve University, where he was a team captain and University Athletic Association conference finalist while earning his degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Outside of the pool, he is an engineer in consumer product design and development, is a reacreational tri-athlete and runner, and is qute possibly the world's biggest Star Wars fan. 

EJ Mcllduff

Lead Gold Coach - Shaker Site

EJ joined us back in the spring of 2016.  He comes to the Sharks with 10 plus years of coaching and swimming.  Competitively he swam four years of high school, two of which under Coach Eric's direction.  He attended both Kent State and Akron for Early Childhood Education.  EJ has worked with a variety of age groups ranging from Parent/Child up to age group and masters, and helps with the gym classes at Woodbury. When not at the pool EJ enjoys watching Cleveland sports teams.


Jelani Watkins

Lead Silver & Bronze Coach - Shaker Site

Jelani joined Sharks Swimming as a coach in August 2018. He works primarily with Junior Sharks, Gold Sharks and Age Group Swimmers at the Middle School. Jelani has been a swim instructor since 2011, teaching swim lessons and coaching both USA Swimming teams and summer swim teams in the Atlanta area. Jelani holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Morehouse College and a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from Georgia State University. He is the Middle School Directors of Choirs and a music educator at the Hawken School Lyndhurst campus.


 

Brendan Pham

Asst. Coach - Shaker Site (Bronze, Silver, Gold)

Brendan has been coaching with the Sharks since its inception. He works primarily with age group program. He is also the head coach of the Shaker Heights Middle School Swim Team. Brendan is a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and Cleveland State University with a degree in mathematics. When not a swim practice or a meet, Brendan also enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 kids in Solon.

 

Brittany Miller

Asst Coach - Shaker Site (Bronze, Silver, Gold)

Brittany joined Sharks Swimming as a coach in October 2018. She works primarily with the Junior and Gold Sharks at the Middle School. Brittany has been a lifeguard and a water safety instructor sincve 2008, teaching swim lessons and coaching recreational summer leagues on Cleveland's west side She is also an Assistant Coach for the Shaker Heights Middle School Swim Team. Brittany attended Cleveland State University for Early Childhood Education. Currently, Brittany teaches Pre-K at Le Chaperon Rouge in Shaker Heights. When not at the pool, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 4 fur babies!


Tolic Borisov

Asst Coach - Shaker Site (Platinum)

Tolik joined the Sharks Swimming as a coach at the beginning of the 2019-2020 short course season. He was a four-year member of the North Allegheny High School swimming and diving team, serving as the team co-captain during his senior year, a member of the 200 Medley Relay State Champion team in 2018, a two-time District Relay Champion in 2019, and an All-American in 2019. Additionally, he received the Peter Cai Memorial Scholarship for academics and was a National Merit Finalist and was a North Allegheny Top Scholar in 2019. Currently, Tolik is a freshman collegiate athlete at Case Western Reserve University majoring in Chemistry.


 

Sarah Haley

Asst Coach - Euclid Site (Bronze, Silver, Gold)

Coach Sarah joined the Sharks in the Spring of 2021. She was previously an assistant coach for Cleveland Elite Aquatics and the Willowick Wildkats. She swam competitively for 13 years as a memeber of the Wildkats, the West End Wildcats, the Euclid Marlins, Solon Starts, and University Swim Club, and went on to swim collegiately at Grove City College where she was a 4-year varsity team member and served as team captain in her senior year. She has swam primarily breaststroke, IM, and freestyle, but she has always loved breasstroke the best! Sarah majored in biology at Grove City College and currently pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Cleveland State University.
