Danielle Berry-Woody Head Coach

Danielle began attending Wayne State University in 2006, where she was a member of the Women’s Swim team. After being red-shirted, Danielle accepted the assistant coaching position at Chippewa Valley High School in 2009. In her time at Chippewa, the Girls team obtained three back-to-back Macomb County championships, as well as multiple MHSAA Division 1 state qualifications and All-American honors. In 2014, Danielle began coaching the Macomb YMCA Marlins, primarily working with the senior elite group, where she led the team to multiple State, Zone, Sectional, and National qualifications, as well as breaking many long-standing team records. In addition to the Lakers, Danielle is currently the head coach of the Fraser High School Boys team, where she has led the team to 9 new school records, back-to-back Division Championships, numerous MHSAA state qualifications, and an MHSAA State Champion.

Danni Kudla Asst. Head Coach
Danni started her swimming career at a young age. Swimming for Liquid Lightning for 11 years, where she placed at the state, zone, and sectional level in numerous events. She swam for four years at Lake Orion High School breaking 3 relay records as well as receiving All-League and All-State awards. After high school she swam for two years at Wayne State University, contributing to a conference championship. Danni began her coaching career in 2016. Where she coached for DRD for two and a half years. She is currently the assistant coach for the girls swim team at Lakeview High School.
Bella Beattie Asst. Coach

Clinton Twp.

Bella, for the last four years has taken pride in coaching Detroit area youth, helping them accomplish their swimming goals, and watching them grow as swimmers and as young adults. Currently during the school year Bella is swimming for the University of Mississippi Swim Club. In the summer she is happy to return to the Lakers as an assistant coach. Bella is first aid, water safety, and CPR certified.

Stewart Nowinski Asst. Coach


Stewart feels coaching is the best way to give back to the sport and help other young athletes succeed in the same way he has. Stewart is 6-time All American at D2 Nationals representing Wayne State University; he is the  recipient of the Commissioner’s Award for academic excellence in the GLIAC; Stewart also holds the Wayne State record in the 200 and 400 free relays, and the pool record holder at Holland & Northern Michigan in the 200 free relay. Prior to his college achievements Stewart swam for L'Anse Creuse North where he placed 5th in the 50 free and 17th in the 100 free at 2018 D1 states; he holds the records for the 50 free, 100 free, 100 fly, & 200 free along with being a part of the record holding 200 free and 200 medley relays  When not coaching or swimming Stewart is studying Dietetics at Wayne State University with a 3.64 GPA

Alley Ruthenberg Asst. Coach

Saint Clair Shores.

Alley enjoys working with the younger-aged groups helping them develop their strokes and technique to gain confidence as a swimmer. Before Alley started coaching, Alley swam for Lakeview High School, where she was able to help break two relay records. To advance her swim career, she joined the Lakers Aquatic Club in her sophomore year and continued to swim with the Lakers until she graduated in 2020. After graduation, Alley returned to Lakeview in the fall to be assistant coaching for both the girls and boys swim teams.  In the summer of 2021 Alley was honored to join The Lakers as an assistant coach. Alley is Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certified.
