Spring Session 1st Day of Practices Tuesdsay April 24th

 

Spring Schedule

 

Group Placement:  Chosen by the Coaching Staff

 

Level 1- Sailfish 

Must be able to swim one length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke.  Must pass green band swim tests, this includes 1 minute of treading water.

Swimmers are typically 6-8 years old. 

Training Focus: Basic skills for all four strokes and starts  

 

Level 1 Teal 

Must be able to swim one length of legal freestyle (bilateral breathing), backstroke, and breaststroke (or butterfly). Must be able to demonstrate the understanding of reading the pace clock. Swimmers are typically ages 7-9. 

Training Focus: Stroke Development, starts, flip turns, meet readiness, pace clock  

 

  

Level 2 Blue 

Must be able to swim a 100 yards of backstroke and Freestyle. 50 yards breaststroke and butterfly, legal 100 IM and dive from the starting blocks.  Swimmers are typically ages 8-11. 

Swimmers must attend practice 3 days a week. 

Training Focus: Stroke Technique,  following a pace clock, starts, turns,  

 

 

Level 3 White 

Must be able to swim a 200 IM, repeat 100's of all 4 strokes and 500 yard Freestyle. Swimmers are typically ages 10-12. 

Swimmers must attend 3/4 practices a week. 

Training Focus: Stroke Technique, Conditioning, Training goals and habits, race strategies 

   

  

Level 4 Junior 

Must be able to swim 200s of all 4 strokes, maintain 10 X 100 yard Free in under 1:45. Swimmers are typically ages 11-14. 

Swimmers must attend 4/5 practices a week.  

Training Focus: Stroke Technique, training threshold, dryland, leadership skills, and race strategy, goal setting. 

  

  

Level 5 Senior 

Must be able to repeat 200s of every stroke and practice for 2 hours and complete 7,000 yards. 

Must attend a minimum of 5 practices each week. 

Must volunteer at 1 8&U practice each month.

Must volunteer at both the BOO and team Championships.  

Must attend a minimum of 1 team hosted activity. 

Must be 14 years old or have a coach's recommendation. 

Training Focus: Stroke Technique, training threshold, dryland, leadership skills, and race strategy, goal setting. 

  

  

Level 6 National 

Must be able to repeat multiple 400 IMs and be able to swim 8000 yards in 2 hours. Must be 14 years old or older. 

80% attendance or higher is required to be in this group.

  Must attend AM practices and doubles in summer season. 

Must Volunteer at a minimum of 1 8&U practice a month.  

Must volunteer at both the BOO and team Championships.  

Must attend a minimum of 1 team hosted activity. 

 Group selection determined by Coach's Recommendation. 

 Training Focus: Stroke Technique, training threshold, dryland, leadership skills, and race strategy for National level meets, goal setting 

  

  

 

Boyertown YMCA Swimming offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Boyertown YMCA Swimming to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.
