Maddie Waggoner Named One of 56 Swimmers Invited to USA Swimming Eastern Zone Select Camp

Camp highlights the best local swimmers from eastern zone

Maddie Waggoner was selected to participate in USA Swimming’s Eastern Zone Select Camp. The elite camp features 56 emerging swimmers from the area and will be held at University of Pittsburgh from May 30 – June 2.

Jersey Wahoos Swim Club is extremely proud to have Maddie representing us at the Eastern Zone Select Camp. This honor reflects the hard work she put into training this year and is another step for her in her quest for even higher swimming goals.

The four-day camp will feature five long course workouts that Waggoner will participate in. While the camp is competitive, athletes will also have the opportunity to learn from professionals about post-race recovery, psychological training skills, nutrition and race strategy.

The top 28 male and 28 females in the Eastern Zone are selected for the camp. Swimmers are selected based on 2018 Long Course Meters (LCM) IMX point scores, where the fastest athlete in each event, ranging from age 12 to 13 for girls and 13 to 14 for boys are invited to the camp.
