Jersey Wahoos Water Polo Team Update

On Sunday 5/5/19 the Jersey Wahoos U14 Water Polo Team completed the American Water Polo’s competitive Mainline League tournament season at Princeton University.

The Wahoos squad played its first game against Princeton’s excellent U14 “Tiger” team.  Even though the Tigers outscored Wahoos 14-11, the Wahoos team had its best performance of the season.   Four players tallied multiple goals including 4 goals by Charles Derivaux and 2 scores each by Jack Behm, Liam Broderick and Kaitlyn Fahy.

Wahoos second game was against the “Trojans” from Wissahickon, PA.  Wahoos performed even better in this game and tallied a come from behind 14-10 victory.  The team’s high scorers were Kaitlyn Fahy with 3 goals and Liam Broderick with 2 goals.  The team also had solid defensive performances by Kat Gagnon, Jack Behm, Colin Raue, and goalie Jack McGuckin.

Overall the Wahoos U14 Team ended up with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses in the AWP Mainline league.  This is a fantastic result considering the number of 11 & 12-year-old players on the Wahoos U14 team lineup.

Throughout the season the club’s young athletes represented Jersey Wahoos with dedication and class.  The “6 & O” undefeated record of the Wahoos U12 Team and the “3 & 3” record of the U14 Team have proven that Jersey Wahoos can compete with the long established Water Polo club’s from the Tri-State region.   Additionally, the feedback from the league and the other clubs has been very positive, and all have graciously welcomed our club to the local “Water Polo Community”.

The final water polo practice of the season will take place this Wednesday, 5/8/19 at the Giant Pool from 7:45 PM – 8:45 PM.   Please try to attend this final session so that our athletes can celebrate the club’s second successful competitive water polo season.
