PAY Families –

Hope you are well!  Want to send a quick update with a few reminders and highlight our National Team’s performance last week.

First of all, I want to congratulate all swimmers who competed at YMCA Nationals last week – it was a great week for the team and I think the team spirit, comradery, and perseverance exemplified by all swimmers on the trip went a long way toward making it a successful and extremely fun week.

We had six individual finalists, an improvement from short course nationals, when we had one.  We had three girls’ relays place in the top 16, again an improvement from short course nationals, when we had one.  Our boys’ relays were close several times and just missed but swam very well and dropped a large amount of time from their composite seed times.

Our individual finalists were lead by Anya Mostek, who placed 6th in the girls’ 100 meter backstroke with a Winter Juniors cut of 1:05.05.  Brendan Baganski (50 fly – 17th), Aidan McKenrick (100 free – 19th), Kenzie Padilla (50 fly – 20th), Alex Zelinske (50 back – 21st), and George Pappas (50 back – 23rd) were the other finalists from PAY.  Our point scoring relays were lead by Anya Mostek, Kenzie Padilla, Allyssa Utecht, and Alex Zelinske and placed 12th in the 400 Medley Relay, 14th in the 400 Freestyle Relay, and 15th in the 200 Medley Relay.  GREAT WORK swimmers!

Secondly, we want to wish good luck and send some swim fast vibes to our 5 swimmers who are competing at MA Zones this week: Victoria, Blaise, Howard, Andy and Addison.

Thirdly, few reminders:

  • The PAY sign-up deadline for the Bill Schmidt Memorial Meet at York Y on Oct 4-6 is August 9.  Please sign up ASAP if you know you are going.
  • We are working on group placement and will have that out this week.
  • I will be on vacation for much of the next two weeks.  I will have limited access to email but will be checking periodically when I can.  We will NOT send a Newsletter next Monday.
  • The event sign-up declaration for commitment to next season was sent today.  Remember that this is how you will sign up for the 2019-2020 season and it really is as simple as a few mouse clicks.  Please refer to the event sign up page for more details.  The deadline to commit to the team is August 19.
  • Practice schedules and meet schedules are linked on the website.
  • HS Swimmers looking to coach – if any of your swimmers have an interest in coaching this year, please have them contact me through email ASAP – must be at least 16 years old.

Officially one full season down for me – thanks everyone for making it a successful year and for welcoming me to the team with open arms.  Your support, encouragement, patience, and understanding as I navigated through my first season were so crucial and I am so thankful for it all.

Best –

Coach Anthony
