Steve Duncheskie - Aquatics Director
Steve continues with SAC in his 20th year as Aquatics Director. He oversees the development of practices and serves as the primary link of communication between parents, board and the coaches. He is the head water polo coach and head swim coach for La Salle College High School, where he also is the Department Chair for Science. He is a 1999 graduate of La Salle University, where he also holds a Masters Degree in Education. As a former All-American, Steve was an Atlantic 10 and ECAC champion and record holder in the 100 freestyle, 50 free, and 200 freestyle relays. Steve was inducted into the Suburban Aquatics League Hall of Fame in 2008 and LaSalle College High School Hall of Athletics in 2018. Steve has guided the LaSalle High School swimming team to seven PIAA championships and the Boys National Champions by Swimming World magazine for 2015-2016.
Lizanne Hendershott - USA Head Coach
This is Lizanne’s 20th year as a SAC coach as well as the head USA swimming coach. She was elected to SAL's Coaching Hall of Fame during the 2011-2012 season. Lizanne swam for William Tennent High School in the 1970’s, was a high school All-American for four years, and still holds a school record in the 400 freestyle relay (look for it at the Odd Age Meet!). She attended Penn State where she swam and obtained an undergraduate degree in engineering. She earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Chestnut Hill College and currently teaches at Ancillae-Assumpta Academy. Lizanne is also an assistant Springfield Township High School swimming coach and in the summer, Flourtown Country Club's head coach
Nick Militello - Boys Head Coach
Nick Militello is in his third year as boy's head coach of the Springfield Aquatic Club. The first thing Nick would tell you is that his second home is either on the deck of a pool or in the water. He fell in love with teaching when he began his water experience thirty years ago as a volunteer instructor at the Ambler Area YMCA and has continued to progress in all areas of water experience since. Nick interned as an aqua baby instructor and a beginner and advanced adult swim instructor from 1985 until 1990. Knowing that teaching in the water was going to be a lifelong passion, Nick began his certification process with the American Red Cross WSI certification in 1987. He's continued to be certified and to teach lifeguard training, CPR and Standard First Aid. Between 1989 and 2002, Nick organized and ran the Springfield Township Saturday morning swim program. A large part of this program was to teach high school students to be quality swim instructors who had the ability and confidence to work with children at all levels of instructional need. From 1992 until 2002, Nick's responsibilities at Springfield overlapped and he became the Springfield School District Aquatic Director. Nick was on the SHS swim team during his High School years so he felt the flow from competitive swimmer to swim coach was a natural one of him and from 1992-1993, Nick was the Assistant Boys swim coach at SHS. Nick became the head swim coach in 1993 and continue to hold that position to this day. Nick is excited to be adding SAC coaching to his second home.
Zac Nees - Diving Head Coach
Zac comes to the leadership position with an EXNTENSIVE resume of excellence on the boards and coaching. In 2015, Zac was the Pan American games bronze medalist. He was a 3 time Senior National Champion (3 meter synchro), 4 time Olympic trial finalist (10 meter, 3 meter), and 3 time NCAA Division 1 national finalist for first Indiana University and then the Miami Hurricanes.
Zac has been a member of Team USA Diving in 2012, 2014, and 2015. In 2012 Zac was named Big Ten Diver of the Year for Indiana University.
Zac has coached at multiple diving camps including the Indiana Dive Camp and and Penn State Diving Camp.
Julie Rafalowski – Assistant Swim Coach
Julie is in her 10th year as the assistant coach. Julie was a former Springfield Spartan varsity letter winner in swimming and water polo. She continued to play water polo at Millersville University where she earned A BA is government and history. Julie heads the pre-team and 8 and under groups.
Denise Quigg – Head Pre-Team Coach
Denise is in her 13th year with the pre-team and assistant to the girls swim team. Denise is a registered nurse and also an assistant coach at Flourtown Country Club.
Ben Mancini – Head Boys Swim Coach, Head Water Polo Coach
Ben is in his 7th year coach for Springfield Aquatic Club. He attended Washington and Jefferson College where he competed in 2 Varsity sports for 4 years Swimming (2 year Captain), and Water Polo. He is currently one of our lead USA coaches and Head Age group Water Polo coach.
Alyce Mancini - Head Girls Coach
Alyce is in her 4th season with SAC and the co-head coach of the SAC Girls team. Alyce is a former member of the Springfield HS swimming and water polo teams. She is a teacher and currently resides in Oreland.
Jason Boles - Head Girls Coach
Jason is in his 4th season with SAC and is also our spring water polo coach. Jason is a former member of the Springfield HS swimming and water polo teams.
