Coaches and Directors
Lindsay (Swiderski) Taggart has been involved in the sport of swimming for the majority of her life. Growing up, she swam competitively for Wilmington Aquatic Club where she achieve such accolades as state champion, high school state champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Delaware High School All-State swimmer, and Junior National qualifier. Lindsay was awarded a NCAA Division 1 swimming scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, where she swam from 1994 to 1998. During her freshman year, she placed 6th in the 500 freestyle and 5th in the 1650 free at the Big East Championships. While at Pittsburgh, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Psychology and her Master’s Degree in Teaching. During her graduate school years, Lindsay coached part-time with Team Pittsburgh. In 2004, she moved back to her home state and began both coaching and teaching for Team Delaware. In 2008, she helped to re-develop Wilmington Aquatic Club in 2011. Lindsay is certified in CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding.
Alicia started swimming before she could even walk. She competed in her first swim meet at 4 and never looked back. Alicia grew up swimming for Wilmington Aquatic Club until her senior year when it turned into Swim Quest. She attended Padua Academy where she was state champ in 50 free, 100 free, and 100 breast. She made All-State and All-Catholic for all 4 years in high school. She qualified for Junior Nationals in the 100 breast and 500 free while swimming for WAC. Alicia now is one of the owners of WAC and Swim School, Inc., where she teaches kids from learning to love the water and swim up to the higher levels of the competitive side of the sport.
Mark Nelson started competitive swimming when he was 5 for
Delaware Riptide Aquatics. He later swam for Team Delaware
and Middletown in high school. In college, Mark swam for
George Mason University obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise
Science. After graduating, he worked in strength and
conditioning for 2 years in Leesburg, VA before returning back home
to Delaware. Shortly after returning home, Mark joined
Wilmington Aquatic Club in 2014. He is certified in
Lifeguard, First Aid, & CPR.
Mike Clemente started his competitive swimming career with Wilmington Aquatic Club at the age of 7. Later he swam for Salem County YMCA, Chestnut Run and Penns Grove High School swim teams in New Jersey. In high school, he was a 4 time Conference Champion and record holder in the 100 Breaststroke. In college he swam for Rowan University where he was selected as Team Captain in 1996-97. While at Rowan he obtained his Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. In 2011, he took over as head coach of his former team at the Salem County YMCA. Mike joined Wilmington Aquatic Club as an assistant coach in 2014. He is certified in Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR and as an American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 2 Coach.


Started swimming at the age of 5 in the SSL.
- Joined Team Delaware at the age of 7.
- Was part of 3 State Championships while swimming high school at Salesianum.
- 3 Time first Team All-State Selection in high school.
- Qualified for U.S. Junior Nationals in the 100 and 200 yard fly. Also swam in 3 relays.
- Swam for St. Bonaventure University in college.
-Won a Atlantic 10 conference championship and was selected to the all conference team in 1999.
