SUPER SQUAD (Green and Gold)

This group is for entry-level competitive swimmers.  The emphasis at the Super Squad level continues to be on skill acquisition and development.  Swimmers are taught the basics of the four competitive strokes, as well as competition starts and turns.  Swimmers in Super Squad are encouraged to experience the fun of competition at Swim Manitoba sanctioned “Program/Invitationals”.  Emphasis is placed on developing positive self-esteem, making new friends and having fun!


Group Objectives and Focus

  • Continued development of basic movement literacy
  • Continued development of ABC’s (agility, balance, coordination and speed)
  • Development of skills that are specific to the sport of competitive swimming
  • Development of skills required to train in a structured environment
  • Introduction to competition through participation in Swim Manitoba sanctioned Program Meets

Parent Expectations

All parents are expected to attend the annual general meeting held in June, the mid-year general meeting, normally held in February as well as the parent-coach meetings (dates to be announced).

Parents are also expected to volunteer in various capacities. There are many volunteer opportunities available. For more detailed information regarding volunteering, see the Volunteering section of this website. The following is a volunteer guide for parents in Super Squad.

Club Involvement Opportunities

  • Assist with hospitality at meets
  • Committee Member, such as Welcome Back BBQ, Bud-Spud-and Steak Social, and Year End Celebration

Apparel and Equipment Requirements

Apparel Requirements at Practice

  • Running shoes (no deck shoes)
  • Marlin t-shirt
  • Athletic shorts
  • Goggles
  • Training suit (must be black with green piping or have primarily a green pattern)
  • Marlins cap *All swimmers are required to wear a Marlin cap at practice.

Apparel Requirements at Meets

  • Team Attire = any attire which bears the MM logo (i.e. Team sweats, t-shirts, towels, shorts, tracksuits etc.)
  • Running shoes or deck shoes (preferably running shoes)
  • Goggles
  • Racing suit (must be black, green or a combination of both colours). Nothing below the knees for males and females. Nothing above the waist for males. Nothing past the shoulders for females.
  • Marlins cap *All swimmers are required to wear a Marlin cap at meets.

Group Equipment Requirements

  • Speedo full fins
  • Water bottle
  • Mesh Bag
  • Swimmers are expected to have their training equipment with them at every practice.
