Mariner Swim Club (MSC)
Gilman School Pool (5407 Roland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21210)

We are seeking a Head Coach and Program Director (“Head Coach”) to oversee all aspects of our competitive swim program, with direct coaching responsibilities. The overall objective of the position is to continue to guide and grow a USA swimming program that produces the highest attainable levels of competitive excellence in individual and team performance, while fostering a positive environment that fulfills MSC goals and vision. It is expected that the head coach will foster positive relationships, mentor as appropriate, and communicate well with their coaching staff, swim team members, swim team parents, the swim school director, and the Board of Directors. The Head Coach must develop the skills and talents of the team members and coaching staff while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and encouraging personal development and excellence. The Head Coach will be expected to work in partnership with Gilman School staff, additional area pool management, Maryland Swimming and other stakeholders and further develop the team’s position as a leading program in Maryland.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Serve as the overall Head Coach and Competitive Director for the team’s competitive program, providing leadership and guidance to the team’s committee chairs and administrators.
• Develop the team’s training group structure, team policies
● Group structure includes 6 levels plus swim school.
• Manage day-to-day operating issues, including (but not limited to):
● Facilities procurement and management
● Recruiting of novice swimmers and swimmer retention
● Drive regular staff meetings
● Plan Team Practice Schedule and Meet Schedule, including team and coaches travel, meet entry assignments, and other meet administrative duties
● Primary coaching responsibility will be for the senior swim group, but other coaching assignments may be included
● Evaluate Training plans and goals for Swimmer Development for all athletes at all levels, including managing the planning of training cycles in conjunction with group lead coaches
● Plan and lead all‐member parent meetings (in accordance with bylaws and in coordination with the Board of Directors)
● Manage and delegate administrative duties
• Enforce Team and LSC Policy and Procedures
• Attend team Board of Directors meeting and provide monthly reports as to the status, policies and activities of the team and its staff
• Finance responsibilities including:
• Assist in preparation of an annual operating budget (to include coaches’ pay) with the team treasurer and administrative/business manager for Board approval.
• Implement and manage expenditures in accordance with approved budget.
• Review and gain Board approval for any required changes to budget.
• Communication responsibilities including but not limited to:
• board, swimmers, coaches, parents, LSC and public relations as well as delegation of communication in a timely fashion as appropriate for the situation
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Manage all hiring and personnel actions for competitive program and administrative staff including:
● Competitive program coaching staff
● Business Manager/Assistant Head Coach
● Swim School director
Physical Requirements:
• Required to travel periodically with athletes to “away” meets
• Regularly required to walk, stand for long periods on the pool deck
• Required to maintain USA Swimming coach certification, including first aid and life-saving requirements

• Must possess VISION for MSC and excellent ability to communicate that vision through all levels of the club
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability in fostering teamwork.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
• Proven experience in Swim Coaching in leadership positions
• A history of success coaching swimmers in a wide range of athletic ability
• Current USA Swimming Coaching Certification
• ASCA Level 2 Coaching Certification at a minimum
• Familiarity with Team Unify and Hytek products
• Experience with all administrative aspects of meet entry coordination for home and away meets
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is a plus
• Must pass USA Swimming and MSC background check and drug test requirements
• Experience in the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive competitive swim program
• Proven team management skills

Assistant Swim Team Coach - Loyola Blakefield Aquatics

Loyola Blakefield Aquatics (LBA), located in Towson, MD, is seeking a part-time swim coach to assist our Senior age group (14-18). This is a great opportunity to work with our elite high school swimmers who are working towards qualifying for Sectional meets and above and preparing for Collegiate swimming. We are looking for a coach who brings experience, energy and is as passionate about the sport and about growing the whole swimmer as we are.

We are a team of 120+ swimmers with levels ranging from 8 & Unders to Junior qualifiers. We have a close knit coaching staff that is hard working, ambitious and proud of our accomplishments together. Over the past few seasons, we have achieved Bronze Medal Club Status, sent swimmers to Junior Nationals, and outperformed teams more than twice our size within the LSC.

Job Duties Include
1. Assist with Coaching of our Senior Group swimmers
2. Plan and conduct swim practices in accordance with the Head Coach and other coaching staff.
3. Assist with other training groups as needed.
4. Interface with parents related to swimmers training program and goals.
5. Attending scheduled USA swim meets (1-2 weekends per month).

1. Coaching Membership in good standing with USA swimming.
2. Red Cross Certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid
3. Minimum 2+ years coaching experience, preferably at the Club level

Assistant Swim Team Coach - JCC Swimming

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Head Swim Coach, the Assistant Swim Coach, assists in developing, organizing and implementing the JCC Swim Team.


1. 18 years or older
2. Current American Red Cross First Aid Certification
3. Current American Red Cross Community CPR certification, or equivalent
4. One year or more of swim team experience preferred
5. USA Coaching Certification Preferred
6. Ability to teach proper competitive swimming techniques
7. Demonstrates knowledge of sound competitive swimming skills, and the ability to implement and teach these skills in a positive healthy manner
8. Knowledge of basic exercise
9. Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability) preferred


1. Provides competitive swimming instruction to swim team members in Novice to Age group swimming groups.
2. Organizes and conducts team workouts
3. Works effectively with other coaches as assigned
4. Provides motivation support and guidance

The work environment is usually fast paced. This job requires high energy and interaction with swimmers and their parents, other agency staff and members.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is often required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Swim Team Coach - Bayside Aquatics

Bayside Aquatics is looking for qualified, reliable, and enthusiastic coaches to assist and/or lead our Minis (8 & Under), Novice (8-10), and Age Group (9-12) groups.

The position requires afternoon, evening, and weekend availability. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children of all ages, someone who is willing to learn, and has a passion for teaching swimming technique and fostering an atmosphere of team unity. We are currently swimming at SportFit Bowie with plans to move into Bowie State University in the spring/ summer. Bayside Aquatics is a brand new Maryland Swimming team with approximately 75 athletes.

ASC is looking for an enthusiastic Age Group Coach to primarily work with our 10 & Under swimmers.

Requirements: Preferably looking for candidates to have 2-3 years previous coaching experience, and to feel comfortable leading groups with prepared practices, and a strong ability to teach and correct stroke technique. The hired coach will be expected to work 4 evenings per week, although this can be flexible. All ASC Coaches will need to remain current with all USA Swimming certifications.

What do lifeguards do?
Responsible for the supervision and education to swimmers, facility supervision, facility maintenance, and administration of the department emergency action plan. Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or the equivalent, a current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification, a current American Red Cross First Aid certification, or the equivalents, and be in good physical condition (as determined by a pre-requisite skills test) is required. Also responsible for testing the pool water and making sure the pool deck is clean and organized.

Assistant Swim Team Coach

The South River Colony Stingrays Swim Team, a member of the Greater Annapolis Swim League (GASL) is seeking an Assistant Coach for the Summer 2021 swim season. The team is made up of 120-160 swimmers, aged 4-18. The coaching staff consists of the Head Coach, an Assistant Coach and 4-6 Junior Assistant Coaches. Practices are held and both of our community pool locations.

The summer swim season is anticipated to run from June 5 through July 25. Prior to AACPS schools letting out for the summer practices are held daily M-F from 4:30pm-7pm and Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8am-10am. Once school is out for the summer (June 18) practices will be held M-F from 7am-10am. Saturday morning swim meets will take place starting on June 19, 2021.


  • Current Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid and Pool Operators Certification. Register with AAU and complete AAU online coach’s course ( and background check.
  • Persona lcharacteristics including strong organizational ability; enjoys working with children andyouth; enthusiastic, communicative, and fun! Proof of all appropriate certification required no later than May 28, 2021.
  • Preferred: Previous coaching experience or work with children; competitive swimming experience

  • Ability to commit to regular season morning meets (approx. 7:30am - 12pm) on Saturday, June 12, June 26, July 10 and July 17; and regular season evening meets (approx. 5:30pm - 9pm) on June 22 and July 6.
  • Ability to commit to 3 regular season mini-meets for our junior swimmer program (dates TBD, typically weekday evenings)
