Tim Pierce Excellence in Coaching Award

Being a great coach is about making significant contributions to athletes, teams, families, other coaches, and the sport of swimming as a whole.  Tim Pierce embodied this during his incredible five-decade career as a coach, mentor, educator and leader.  This award will carry on Tim’s legacy while honoring coaches in the Maryland Swimming LSC who make an extraordinary contribution to swimming through their actions as a coach.

  • Nominations will be accepted each year at any time.
  • The MD Swimming Coach Representative will convene a panel of 2-3 coaches each year to evaluate nominations and determine if a coach is deserving of the award that particular year.
  • This panel may also nominate coaches for the award.
  • This will only be awarded in years when a coach is clearly deserving.
  • The award may be given at any point during a season.
  • Multiple coaches may win the award in the same year.

Coaching Achievement

Every year an age group coaching staff and senior coach are recognized as the MD Swimming coaches of the year.  The Coaching Recognition – Annual Achievement Awards program would expand the recognition of coaching excellence within the Maryland Swimming LSC.

Awards would be given annually based on yearly accomplishments of the coach’s swimmers.  Coaches must be the coach of record, for swimmers who achieve the standards, from September 1 – August 31 of any given year.

Coaches who receive a Gold Achievement Award, Senior and/or Age Group, for five consecutive years will be recognized as a Platinum Award Winner.
