COACH MEMBER REQUIREMENTS CHECKLIST

Non-Athlete Coach Membership

• Must have a SWIMS User Login - Existing Member Instructions & New Member Instructions

• Receive registration link from club or LSC Office for Unattached Members

• USA Swimming Coach Requirements

Requirements

• CPR/AED Adult & Child Certification

  • Must be through an Approved USA Swimming Vendor

  • Can complete in advance of member registration

  • Must renew every 2 years

  • Email completion certificate to LSC Office to update member record - [email protected]

• Safety Training for Swim Coaches

  • ​STSC In-Water Certificate (Lifeguard Certificate or In-Water Checklist)

  • STSC Online Content

  • Can complete in advance of member registration

  • Must renew every 2 years

  • Email completion certificates to LSC Office to update to member record - [email protected]

• Background Check (BGC)

  • New Members must complete the registration process prior to initiating a Background Check

  • Not required for Junior Coach Members

  • SWIMS User Login > Education > Course Catalog > Background Check

  • Automatic update to member record upon receipt of results

  • Must renew every 2 years

• Athlete Protection Training (APT)

  • New Members must complete the registration process prior to accessing training

  • SWIMS User Login > Education > Course Catalog > All Courses > Athlete Protection Training

  • Automatic update to member record within 48 hours of completion

  • Must renew every year - Course Progression

• USADA Coach’s Advantage Tutorial (CAT)

  • New Members must complete the registration process prior to accessing tutorial

  • SWIMS User Login > Education > Course Catalog > All Courses > Coach Advantage Tutorial

  • Automatic update to member record within 48 hours of completion

  • Must renew every year

• Coach Education Program

  • Replaces FOC 101 & 201

  • SWIMS User Login > Education > Course Catalog > All Courses 

  • Automatic update to member record within 48 hours of completion

    • Coaches who have completed FOC 101 & 201 prior to 9/1/22, must complete the following

      • Quality Coaching Framework (QCF) prior to 12/31/2022 

    • ​Coaches who have NOT completed FOC 101 & 201 prior to 9/1/2022, must complete the following

      • Welcome to USA Swimming

      • Quality Coaching Framework (QCF)

      • Rules & Regulations Coaches Exam

    • Coaches - prior to the second year as a Coach Member​

      • Core Certification - 5 modules distributed every 10 weeks over the course of a year

• Concussion Training (CPT)

  • Can complete in advance of member registration

  • ​Complete either course - NFHS Concussion in Sports  or CDC Heads Up Concussion Training

  • One time requirement

  • Email completion certificates to LSC Office to update to member record - [email protected]
