About Us

The Grosse Pointe Gators Swim Club is a year-round competitive swim team associated with USA Swimming that offers professional coaching for swimmers of all ages and abilities. All swimmers will be taught appropriate stroke technique and training based on the practice group they are placed in. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve their swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability. We are constantly growing and training young swimmers to maintain a well-rounded competitive swim team.

The Grosse Pointe Gators coaches and swimmers are a part of USA Swimming’s 500,000 member organization which is the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in the United States. USA Swimming develops the culture of swimming by creating opportunities for swimmers and coaches of all backgrounds to participate and advance in the sport through clubs, events, and education. All our coaches have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. This provides assurances that while the swimmers are practicing, they will receive quality instruction.

The Grosse Pointe Gators, a nonprofit club, is run by its elected Board of Directors which meets the second Monday of each month. All members are welcome at each meeting and encouraged to be involved in team activities and fundraisers. If you have any questions or would like to meet our coaching staff or board members, please do not hesitate to ask.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Grosse Pointe Gators Swim Club is to teach, train, and motivate competitive swimmers.

The Grosse Pointe Gators believe that all children should have access to swimming opportunities that reflect their level of interest and ability while developing strong friendships and having fun. The club strives for swimmers to reach their full potential not only by teaching the skills specific to competitive swimming, but also through reinforcing strong values that apply to all facets of life. It is our hope that members of the club will develop self-confidence, self-respect, be able to set personal goals and achieve them, understand the importance of teamwork, camaraderie, and good sportsmanship.
