Practice Groups

The Grosse Pointe Gators is an all-inclusive swim team under the guidance of USA Swimming. We have swimmers of all ages and abilities. Swimmers are separated into groups based on their skill level and in some cases, their age. Below is a list of guidelines that must be followed in order to be placed in a specific group. A swimmer will only be placed in that group by a coach after they can demonstrate proficiency in these skills. Our coaching staff makes the final decision on placement in these groups. We are asking parents to keep their swimmers in the group they are in until a coach lets them know their swimmer is ready to move up. If you are new to the Gators, please reach out to Tony Grice (Assistant Head Coach) tonyg2f@yahoo.com about an evaluation for your swimmer. The evaluation will determine which group your swimmer should start out in. Our coaching staff wants each swimmer to reach their maximum potential. Part of the process to achieve this is experiencing all parts of being in a group; being new to the group, being in the middle of the pack, and being a leader. We would appreciate cooperation by our families with this group structure and guidelines.

Also, we ask that swimmers arrive at the pool, 15 minutes prior to the start of their practice time. The swimmers are required to have their own equipment. All swimmers need to be prepared, with their equipment, to get into the water at the start of practice.
