Jonathan Walker, called “Coach Jon” by all of his swimmers and coworkers, began swimming when he was only three years old. He was taught by his grandfather, who was also a competitive swimmer and lifeguard in his younger years. At the age of 12 he joined his local swim team, the Detroit Swim Club and fell in love with the sport. After two years with the Detroit Swim Club, he joined the team at Cass Technical High School where his excelled and became team captain his senior year. After High school Coach Jon went on to Michigan State and swam for his first two years.

Coach Jon’s first experience with coaching was with North Western High school. While an assistant coach there, he helped build the team from zero swimmers to the league champions in three years. He went on to coach CMA high school and then the Tiger Sharks Swim Team of Detroit.
