USA SWIMMING SAFE SPORT PROGRAM & MINOR ATHLETE PROTECTION POLICY
USA Swimming’s top priority continues to be keeping athletes safe. No form of abuse, including child sexual abuse, has a place in this sport. As part of a continued commitment to safeguard our athletes, USA Swimming has enacted enhancements to the Safe Sport policy and education requirements.
The Minor Athlete Protection Policy (MAAPP) addresses one-on-one interactions, social media and electronic communications, travel: local and team, locker rooms and changing areas and massages, rubdowns and athletic training modalities.
As a condition of membership both with Motor City Aquatics and USA Swimming, all athlete members ages 18 and over must complete Athlete Protection Training. It is very important to complete the online training before your 18th birthday as swimmers without proof of training will not be able to participate in MCA practices, or USA sanctioned swim meets. In addition, a signed copy of the Acknowledgment Receipt of the MAAPP Policy must be on file with MCA annually for all swimmers, regardless of age.
Below you will find links to assist you in understanding and implementing these requirements.
