Ty Parker Head Coach

Ty Parker has been a teacher/coach for the last 28 years. Ty is married to June Parker and has two children, a daughter named Mackenzie (19) and a son named Maxwell (14). Ty has coached and taught swimmers from ages 2 to 75 from a learn to float level all way up to Olympic Trials Qualifiers.

Ty began teaching swim lessons as a high school student in 1986 where he developed a passion for teaching swimming. He coached club and HS swimming since 1991 in the Lansing and Kalamazoo area. Coach Parker began coaching Portage Aquatic Club in 1992 while working on his Biology Teaching degree at Western Michigan University. He coached club and High School swimming for the next 14 years. In 2008, Ty resumed the head coaching position of his former team the Portage Aquatic Club Crocodiles (CROCS). In the last 9 years under his direction the Portage Aquatic Club has grown from 39 swimmers to over 200 swimmers. Coach Parker has developed State Champions and many State and National level swimmers over the last 9 years. Dozens of Collegiate swimmers currently swim across the midwest.

PAC has finished top 10 at the State for the past 6 years and in 2014 and 2015 the team finished top 5th in the State. Ty has a teaching degree in Biology and graduated with his masters degree from the college of Education at Ohio University with an emphasis in Coaching education. Ty will coach the Senior team, Jr. Black, Croc Green and Croc Black Team.

Shelby Cloyd Coach

Shelby Cloyd is entering her fifth season coaching with Portage Aquatic Club. In 2013 she graduated from Calvin College with a degree in biochemistry and a concentration in pre-medicine. At Calvin she was a four year varsity letter winner in swimming and she served at a team captain for her 2012-2013 season. While at Calvin she helped her team win four straight MIAA conference championships specializing in distance freestyle and butterfly events. Since graduating she has had many opportunities to coach swimming in the area. In addition to coaching at PAC she is also was the head Men’s and Women’s coach at Portage Northern high school and she helped out with Northern's middle school program. Shelby also works at Pfizer full time where she is currently a microbiologist supporting the aseptic processing areas. Shelby will be coaching the Croc Black team.

Agata Zaluska Coach

Agata joined PAC in September 2014. She has 17 years of experience as a competitive swimmer and 2 years of experience as an assistant coach on a collegiate level (Wayne State University). She started coaching at a swim club level in September 2013. Agata was born in Poland and came to the US in 2007 when she received a full athletic scholarship at Wayne State University. She was a school record holder in 2009 and 2010 (100 butterfly), and a division II NCAA record holder in 400-medley relay. Agata obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a Master’s degree in Wellness. Agata’s plan is to use her knowledge and experience to help each of the swimmers reach the optimal level of performance. She hopes to help the swimmers develop all of the necessary skills to be excellent athletes in the near future.

William Givans Coach

William joined PAC in April 2016. He is married to his wife Jessica and has two daughters, Aryana and Brooklynn.  He graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI with a Corporate Finance degree and currently works at Eaton Corp.  His swimming background and experience spans across various swim ages and also his own competitive experience swimming collegiately at Wayne State University, where he helped the team earn its first conference championship in school history. William began competitive coaching in 2002 at a swim club located in Eastern Michigan and then later co-lead a competitive team in Apple Valley, Minnesota for 5 years. William will be coaching Jr. Green and Croc Green groups.

Beth Mitchell Coach

Beth Mitchell is from Grinnell, Iowa and attends Kalamazoo College. She is planning on majoring in Economics and Psychology. She began swimming at the age of 7 and continued until a shoulder injury ended her career her senior year of high school. She has taught private swim lessons for 6 years and has coaching experience in her home town for 2 years. Beth will be coaching the Jr. Green, Jr. Black and Croc Green teams.
