HIGH TIDES SWIM CLUB

COVID-19 RETURN TO POOL PROTOCOL

LATEST UPDATE 01.09.21

High Tides Swim Club (HTSC) takes very seriously the safety and well being of all our swimmers and coaches.  We ask that all swimmers, coaches and parents follow the protocols outlined below to help facilitate our return to the pool.

As part of HTSC continuing efforts to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and continue our safe return to the pool we have updated our protocols for swimmers entering and exiting the pool and pool area.

In order to remain compliant with the COVID-19 requirements, HTSC continues to require that masks be worn prior to entering the pool area and up until you enter the pool for practice.  Masks need to be put back on at the conclusion of practice and while exiting the pool.  Social distancing rules MUST be maintained at all times.

As you enter the pool area you will need to sign in each day, this will help with contact tracing in the event there is a COVID-19 positive case. For our younger swimmers,  parents can sign in their swimmer/s.  HTSC will not be temperature checking upon entry but we ask that parents/guardians/support persons self assess your swimmer/s before coming to practice. Please refer to COVID-19 Daily Procedures to Enter the Facility for guidelines.  Again, social distancing rules MUST be maintained while checking in.

During dry land practice, masks are required to be worn.

Thank you for your cooperation as we navigate through these uncertain times.

SWIMMER/COACH EXPECTATIONS

  • Social distancing must be maintained at all times, both inside the building and outside.  This means all swimmers and coaches must enter/exit 6 feet apart from each other.
  • High Tides does require face masks to enter/exit the building.
  • Locker rooms will be allowed to be used, minimally, both before and after practice.
  • Swimmers should come dressed for practice, if at all possible.
  • Swimmers must take all belongings (swim bag, backpacks, etc) and apply the social distancing rules on the bleachers as well.  Coaches will assist as needed for distance requirements.
  • Swimmers must sit and slide entry into the pool.  Lane assignments will be handled by the coaches.
  • Mesh bags brought to the deck must be social distancing, as well.  Included in the mesh bag should be the following items (if you have them): fins, paddles and kick boards.
  • There will be NO sharing of equipment.
  • Water bottles must be brought filled.  Please pack an extra filled water bottle, if needed.  Drinking fountains should be used minimally.
  • At the end of practice, swimmers must pick up mesh bags, water bottles, and all belonging on the bleachers.  Swimmers are allowed to change in the locker rooms but showering is not permitted.  Swimmers will exit the pool area through the back doors of the locker rooms.  Please maintain social distancing rules at all times.
  • Coaches will clean the pool area including the bleachers, handles and anything else that needs disinfecting before the next group of swimmers is allowed to enter.

PARENT EXPECTATIONS

High Tides requests that if your child has had any of the following symptoms in the last 72 hours to please keep your child at home until they are symptom free for 24 hours.

  • Fever greater than 100° F
  • Cough
  • Difficulty Breathing (not due to pre-existing/chronic condition)
  • Sore Throat (not due to pre-existing/chronic condition)
  • Muscle Aches (not due to pre-existing/chronic condition)
  • Severe Fatigue
  • Nasal Congestion (different from pre-existing allergies)
  • Loss of Sense of Smell and/or Taste

If a member of a swimmer’s household or a swimmer has a confirmed case of COVID-19, Coach RJ or Kristy Scheidt must be notified ASAP.  The swimmer may not return until the quarantine period expires.  HTSC is following the Hutchinson Public School Decision Tree when it comes to COVID-19 exposure and cases.

Per the COVID-19 Sports Practice and Games Guidance for Youth and Adults (updated 01/06/21), spectators are allowed.  ONE spectator per participant is allowed to attend practices.  However, spectators at practices are strongly discouraged.  If necessary for spectators to be at practice, all spectators must maintain at least 6 feet of social distancing between households.   Spectators are required to wear a mask at all times and must sign in when entering the pool area, this will help with contact tracing in the event there is a COVID-19 positive case.  Swimmers should refrain from approaching their spectator during practice except for an emergency.

Failure to follow the rules may result in the spectator and the swimmer/s being asked to leave.  We ask that you only enter/watch practice unless absolutely necessary, this will allow HTSC to limit the exposure and keep everyone as safe as possible.

High Tides also requests that your swimmer/s not be dropped off or arrive at the pool until 5 minutes before practice begins.

We understand that everyone is adjusting to the “new normal” and we ask that everyone does their part to keep our entire swim community safe and healthy.  Please reach out to Coach RJ or any board member with questions or concerns.  #rolltides
