Coaches update -- season planning

RJ Greseth
Swimming families,

Our spring schedule is wrapping up after the meets that we attended last weekend.  It was great to be back in the pool racing with a bunch of kids after such limited competition opportunities in the last year,... I hope that trend continues.  We had 30 swimmers racing this weekend in two meets!   There were a lot of good times, as well as some inconsistencies from not competing regularly and the odd season we have had so far.  Entries are now closed for our last short course season meet in New Prague on April 9-11. We will swim through April 16th, and then take a break for a couple of weeks and start our Long Course season on May 3rd.

I have had a couple of questions about our summer schedule, and my thoughts on the dryland opportunity being offered to swimmers through Nekton Fitness in Hutchinson (for 14+ Champ and Gold swimmers). As far as our teams schedule, my plan is for our main Gold and Champ practices to be early as they have been in the past from 6:00-8:00am, with a few sessions for them, and our age group swimmers utilizing the outdoor pool from 9:15 to 11:15am, and we will be supplementing with dryland.   I think the Nekton program has merit if the individual swimmer understands what the benefits of the program are for him/her, has organized their priorities, is supplementing their pool swimming for the right reasons and maintains balance in their life. More information can be found at their website nektonsportsperformance.com or by calling Jake Larson at  320-583-2354. Feel free to call be if you're not sure whether this is right for your swimmer.  PRCE is still working through the details of their schedule and I should know more about what our specific summer schedule will look like in the next week or so.

I feel like we are building momentum, and am excited for moving forward into our next full season as a team.

See you at the pool!
