New Swim Family Parent Meeting and Mock Meet - TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7th

Kristy Scheidt

Hello Swim Families!

Coach Mark will hold a short parent’s meeting on Tuesday, December 7th for new swim families from any group.  He can answer any questions you might have.  He will also go over some swim terminology, including different strokes, importance of swim meets, and what exactly are all those Gold, Silver, and Bronze time standards!!  He will start the meeting at 5:30 in the bleachers inside the pool.

In addition, we would like to let everyone know, but especially our newest swimmers and families, that we will be having a MOCK MEET during practice on Tuesday, December 7th.  If your swimmer has never attended a meet, wants practice off the blocks and with the starter, or parents want to see how a meet is set up and what all this means, be sure to make practice on Tuesday!

Practice time on Tuesday, December 7th will begin after the parent meeting for both the White and Silver groups (approximately 6 pm). We will get kids assigned their events and lanes, have a short warm-up, and then start the meet!  The Black, Gold, and Championship group swimmers will have practice at their normally scheduled time, with some possible interruptions to help with the mock meet.

We hope that this mock meet might ease any concerns or hesitation in getting your swimmer signed up for a meet.  Coaches and seasoned swimmers will help new swimmers with where to stand, what whistle sound to listen for, and other pointers.  The next scheduled meet is December 18th and 19th at the Aquajets facility in Eden Prairie.  This is a great meet for a new swimmer!  Swim meets are an excellent team activity, swimmers hang out and get to know each other between events, and swimmers start to ‘earn’ their times for participation in season-end and championship meets.

If you would like to participate in the Aquajets meet December 18th -19th but are unsure how to sign up or what events to pick there will be board members and coaches available on Tuesday during and after the mock meet to help and answer questions.  Per the email that was sent on Thursday, December 2nd, our initial deadline for signing up is Monday, December 6th.  However, our registrar and coaches will still be able to submit any additional and final entries on Tuesday evening after the mock meet.

If you would like more information on the upcoming Aquajets meet please visit our website.  Please note that this meet is not allowing spectators as the facility does not have seating.  However, volunteer positions are available and you can find those on the Aquajets website.

We hope to see you on Tuesday at our High Tides Mock Meet and at the Aquajets swim meet on December 18th and 19th!
