High Tides members, Things are becoming less predictable, and less normal day-by-day. I hope you all are healthy and taking care of yourselves during this time. We are currently on our normal spring break between seasons. Our spring/summer season, which is scheduled to begin a week from Monday, April 6, is being postponed indefinitely. I don't know how long we all will be “socially restricted', and when the school district/community ed will reopen their facilities. I will continue to keep you updated as things change regarding the upcoming season. While...

Swimmers and families, First and foremost, I hope you all are doing well,... staying healthy and finding ways to cope with this far-from-normal situation. Our High Tides awards banquet and annual meeting that was originally scheduled for this Thursday (March 26th) has been postponed until further notice. We originally had a few fundraising opportunities coming up this spring that are being put off for the time being also. (mum sale, swim-a-thon). Registration for spring/summer season was supposed to begin March 26th as well, but is being pushed back indefinitely --until...

Hi all, Just announced here in Rochester, the Age Group State meet will not be held this weekend as scheduled due to health concerns related to the Corona virus. I am personally saddened by this turn of events, as I know how hard you all worked during the season, and how excited those of you who qualified for the meet were to compete this weekend. USA Swimming has decided to pull all meet sanctions for the next 30 days. Minnesota swimming is already working on contingency plans/ideas on what to...

I am very excited about how well our swimmers performed this weekend... now on to the state meets. Our regular...

Swimmers families, Last weekend 11 High Tides swimmers attended the Vince Herring meet in Rochester MN. We had lots of fun and good swims. As a team we achieved 28 personal best times. Two outstanding swimmers from the meet were Lauren Scheidt, who had 8 out of 9 personal best times, and a new champ time in the 50 freestyle, and Grayson O'Neill who had 7 out of 10 personal best times and 2 new champ times. Swimmers families, Just a few things to mention during this weekend, Tapers will be starting for the various finals meets starting in February. Coaches will be grouping swimmers in the next week based on the meet they should be targeting for the end of the season (the highest level meet they qualify for.) Taper plans typically differ based on ability and age, and I will be talking with age group coaches to coordinate tapers throughout all of our practice groups. Taper practices will be focused on technique, intensity, reduced volume...
