Assistant Coach:  Gresin Pizarro Hawse

Gresin was a diver for the Cuban National team for over 10 years. She specialized in 10m platform diving; she held the National championship tile for several years in this event. She represented Cuba internationally in several meets including the 1998 World Cup in Mexico,1998 Grand Prix in Mexico and Fort Lauderdale. In 1999 as she was preparing for the Sydney2000 Olympic Games, and while at the Grand Prix in Fort Lauderdale she defected from theCuban team. Giving up her dream to participate in an Olympic Games was very difficult but in Gresin’s mind absolutely necessary in order for her to achieve more important goals in life. She was given a scholarship to dive for Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, where she graduated with a Biology-Biochemistry B.S degree in 2003. Gresin moved to Rochester in 2004 with her fiancé (at the time, husband to be) to work at the Mayo clinic in research. They married in 2007, and since then had two kids, a son that is almost 8, and a daughter that is 5 years old. After all those years away from diving, Gresin is very excited to be back now as a coach for The Orcas.
