Dion Erbes Head/Purple Group Coach

Dion was a competitive swimmer for 14 years. He started swimming with the YMCA in Worthington, MN at the age of 9. Moving to Apple Valley just before his Junior year he swam for Apple Valley High School and the Valley Dolphin Swim Club. After high school he attended St. Cloud State University where he swam all 4 years and recieved his degree in Elementary Education.

Dion started coaching with the Valley Dolphin Swim Club in 1990.  He coached there for six (6) seasons.  In 1996, the club changed its name to the Dolphin Aquatics Team and is now part of Blackline Aquatics.

In 1993, Dion worked in the St. Cloud area as the Head Coach of the St. Cloud YMCA Swim Club.  As the head coach at the YMCA, he coached swimmers to the YMCA National and USA Swimming Junior National Championships.  From 1993 to 1996, the St. Cloud YMCA Swim Club placed in the top five for the Class portion of the USA Swimming MN State meets and placed in the top 10 in Class.  In August of 1997, he took the Head Swim Coach job with Cathedral High School, where he coached them to the best season record in 5 years.

In November 1998, Dion worked as Head Coach with District 192 Community Education to establish the Farmington Tigersharks Swim Club.  In November 1999, the Tigersharks ventured out on their own.  Dion has continued his position as Head Coach for the club.

Mr. Erbes also teaches 5th Grade at Riverview Elementary School in Farmington.

Samantha Haus Age Group Coach

Samantha grew up in Lakeville, MN.  She joined the Lakeville Swim Club at around the age of 9.  Where she swam for them off and on until her sophomore year of high school.  From there she joined the Farmington Tigersharks, and swam for them until she graduated high school from Lakeville Sr. High.  She swam all through high school.  After high school Samantha received a scholarship to swim for the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley Colorado.  There she received her Bachelor’s degree in Visual Art with an Emphasis in Photography.

She joined the Tigersharks coaching staff in October 2018.  She is also currently working for the University of Minnesota.

Alexis Bray Coach
Lexie grew up in Farmington, MN and started swimming competitively with Tigersharks at age 8. She joined the Farmington High School swim team in 7th grade and swam for them through high school and Tigersharks through her graduation in 2018. While at Farmington High School she was also a member of the Track and Field team. Following her graduation, Lexie went on to study and swim at Minnesota State University Moorhead, continuing to swim with Tigersharks during school breaks. While at MSU-Moorhead Lexie graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrated Advertising and Public Relations with a minor in Sports Communications. She currently works as an E-Commerce Assistant Manager with Elsmore Swim Shop. In her free time she likes to spend time at her family cabin and reading.

Lexie is super excited to continue with the program that supported her throughout her entire swimming career and step into a new role in the swimming world!
Austin Kueck Coach

Austin grew up in Farmington, MN, graduating from Farmington High School in 2017. He started swimming in 4th grade on the Wise Swim School Swim Team before joining Tigersharks two years later. Austin continued to swim for Tigersharks all through high school where he earned multiple team records and Top 8 State finishes. He also served as Tigersharks’ athlete liaison for the MSI House of Delegates from 2015-2017. After high school, Austin swam Division I and earned an Elementary Education degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. His primary events were middle distance freestyle, butterfly, and IM. 

Austin taught swimming lessons through Farmington Community Education from 2014-2019 (many of his students are Tigersharks swimmers today!). He also helped Coach Phil with the novice group throughout his junior and senior years of high school and briefly during the summer of 2019. 

Austin’s favorite Tigersharks memories are: (1) Fourth of July/Olympic week practices with purple group; and (2) the summer away meet in Sioux Falls. 

Phil Weix Substitute Coach

Phil joined the Tigersharks coaching staff in the fall of 2008.  Phil was the primary coach of the Novice Group and the White Group.  In the fall of 2012, Phil started coaching the Blue/Indigo Group.  He is still the primary coach of the Novice group. 

 

In the 2011-2015 school years, Phil was the assistant coach the FHS Boys High School Team. 

 

After moving to Elk River in the fall of 2021, Phil decided to retire from coaching in April of 2022. Phil will be greatly missed! He will be a substitute coach from time to time.
