What is a Swim-a-Thon?
Swim-a-Thon is a USA Swimming Foundation approved fundraiser used by swim teams all over the United States to raise money for their respective club. To raise money for Swim-a-Thon, swimmers receive pledges and donations from family members, friends, neighbors, and local businesses.
This is a family event. Parents of the younger swimmers help count laps and keep track of times. We hope that everyone is able to get the whole family involved. The older swimmers' involvement may also include helping count laps and encouraging the younger swimmers.
Velocity Aquatics is raising money to further their reach in the community to reach those for whom swimming may not be accessible as a sport and to keep their current equipment up to date.
The Velocity Board and Coaches are working to keep the sport of swimming accessible to all. We are in need of upgrades to our computers and timing system to be able to continue to host local meets. Pool costs are rising across the metro and Velocity is not immune to that. Swimmer equipment needs, such as fins / kick board / pull bouys, are necessary, so that our youngest swimmers and those who do not have the means to purchase can still participate in healthy engaged practices.
Celebrating achievements of our swimmers is important. We are looking to create a record board which can hang at any of our pools to celebrate our swimmers.
Having educated and certified coaches on our deck, is a bedrock of a great program. Coach certifications and educational opportunities are something that benefit the whole team and Velocity is committed to supporting our coaching staff with the best training available.
Our goal is to raise money from friends and family. With our athletes fundraising participation and your financial support, we will be able to provide critical support to our team. Your support of our Swim-a-Thon is very much appreciated!
