New Information

College Swimmer Ceremony: We invite you to join us on Wednesday, May 29th at 3pm, to celebrate our seven, college swimming-bound Seniors. We’ll gather in the Bluewater lobby for 15 minutes at the beginning of our Senior Elite & Senior 2 practices to acknowledge the hard work these athletes have done during their time at Riptide and to wish them well going forward. Please join us!

MAAPP Training: USA Swimming recently introduced a significantly upgraded and aggressive MAAPP (Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy). Over the coming weeks, you will hear more about this new program and its impact on team operations. One of the most pressing impacts of this new policy is the requirement for all “Adult Athletes” to complete MAAPP training. Practically speaking, this means that all 18 & over Riptide athletes are required to complete the MAAPP training modules. This new policy goes into effect on June 23, 2019. We will send a separate email to all impacted athletes by early next week reminding them of their responsibility to complete this training.

Cascade Bay: On Sunday, June 30th, our Riptide families are invited to enjoy the Cascade Bay Waterpark. More details will follow soon but, for now, here are your relevant details.

  • Who: All Staff and Customers of WSS including satellite locations, Riptide Staff and Members
  • When: June 30th 6:45-8:45pm
  • Where: Cascade Bay in Eagan
  • Why: To make the kids smile

Central Zone Select Camp: Megan Hutchins & Jackson Kehler have returned from a great weekend in Cincinnati at the USA Swimming Central Zone Select Camp. This invitation-only camp brings together the top talent from across the USA Swimming Central Zone. Here’s a link to some fun video from their weekend!

Ongoing Updates & Reminders

Private Lessons: If you’re interested in private lessons for your swimmer, please speak to your coach or email Paul Smith.

Long Course Summer Surcharge: On June 15th, the following practice rosters will be charged their annual summer long course surcharge. These fees partially off-set our 50-meter lane expenses in Northfield and Bloomington.

  • Sr Elite & Sprint - $75
  • Sr 2 - $70
  • Sr 1 - $60
  • Jr-Select - $60
  • Gold - $40

2019 Zone Open Water Swimming Championships: We have a great opportunity for those interested in Open Water Swimming. Open Water Zones will take place in Pleasant Prairie, WI June 13/14, in their purpose-built facility. This is a safe and fun environment for our athletes. Anyone interested in more information, please contact Coach Amy for details.

Locker Room Parents: Parents…this is a friendly reminder that you need to refrain from entering the locker rooms at Bluewater. USA Swimming has very detailed Safe Sport policies that strictly prohibit adults in the locker rooms. Please make every effort to adhere to this policy and to cooperate with coaches and staff.
