Riptide Swim Team

Weekly News – October 12, 2020

New Information

  • We had a great kick-off to the 2020-21 season with the IntraSquad this weekend. Four sessions of racing saw a lot of promising swims from our talented kids. Meet results are available here. It would not be possible to run these meets without the incredibly consistent support we receive from our parents. We know everyone’s lives are busy and we very much appreciate the time and energy you devote to Riptide. Thank you! A special shout-out to Rich Booth for coming in on Saturday to fix some starting block issues!
  • Registration is closed for the Dual meet with SCSC. Please sign up for a volunteer position if your child is participating in the meet.
  • Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should swimmers exhibiting symptoms associated with Covid-19 and/or with a fever of 100.4 or higher attend practices. Please work together to reduce the risk of infection. If your swimmer has had contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case, you must keep them away from the pool and not return for 14 days or until you have a negative Covid test result.

Reminders

  • Age-group swimmers are encouraged to check-out our upcoming swim clinics! We have a great list of clinics listed on the homepage under Upcoming Team Events.
  • Check out the upcoming Mask Tie Dye social event! We would love to have your swimmer join us!
  • We are in the process of reviewing our upcoming cold weather entry/exit procedures. Families will be notified of processes once they are clearly defined.
  • Safe Sport Team Info - To maintain our team’s Safe Sport certification, Riptide must have a minimum percentage of its membership (both athletes and parents) complete the SafeSport training. Thank you for your support!
    • Athletes - We need our 12 and over athletes to take the course. To access the on-line course, go to https://www.usaswimming.org/utility/landing-pages/safe-sport/learn and enter the swimmer's name and birthdate to log in. You may need to select their name from a list, look for our club code - RIPT. Once on the Learn platform, look for the SafeSport for Athletes education module. You will need to "Add to Cart" and "Checkout" (the course is free) to continue. The course itself should take less than 10 minutes.
    • Parents - To access, go to https://www.usaswimming.org/utility/landing-pages/safe-sport/learn and enter the your name and birthdate to log in. • Coach Michelle Hopewell is running Private Lessons for interested swimmers during weekday hours. If you are interested, please email her directly at [email protected].
  • Covid Safety Processes –Please review the Standard Operating Procedures. Our SOP’s are subject to change and all changes will be communicated to families via email. Three critical points:
    • Masks required when not swimming. Place your masks on as soon as reasonably possible after completing your in-water practice.
    • 6-foot social distancing is required when not swimming.
    • Swimmers are not allowed to loiter in the parking lot following practices. When your practice is completed, please exit the facility and parking lot immediately. If you wish to “hang-out” please do so somewhere else.
  • Coach Contact Information
  • All high school swimmers will, during registration, be charged for HALF of their normal one-month’s roster fees. This charge will effectively be your fees for the second half of October when you return from high school swimming. If, due to an unforeseen extension to the high school season, you return later than mid-October, a prorated credit will be applied to your account.
  • Please direct all billing inquiries to Alison Pye. She may be reached at [email protected].
