Riptide Swim Team

Weekly News - October 26, 2020

New Information

  • Riptide swimmers hosted a dual meet with St. Croix this weekend and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to compete against another team. The adrenaline was high and smiles were everywhere as we swam fast in back-to-back sessions. Meet results are available here! Thank you, as always, to our swarm of volunteers for running another sterling meet. We also thank Jennifer & Eric Hutchins for coordinating the action, Theresa Jurisch for ensuring we have the officials lined-up and Karl Kindseth for running the live-stream.  We’re lucky to have a GREAT support network at Riptide.
  • Boys High School swimmers will be charged on Nov 1 for the full month of November. You MUST email [email protected] to confirm your actual departure date from Riptide so that Alison may calculate your proration credit.
  • A huge congratulations to our Katherine Randall for her Arizona State announcement! More hard work and dedication paying off for Riptide swimmers! To our up and coming age group swimmers…DARE TO DREAM!
  • There are a few slots remaining in each session for our Nov 6/7 IntraSquad. If you are interested, contact your lead coach ASAP for entry!
  • Nov 21 Dual with SCSC - Basic meet info is up but we are awaiting the formal sanction from MSI. Registration will open soon and all families will be notified via email.
  • Coach Mikaela is running Saturday ZOOM dryland sessions for age-group swimmers. https://us04web.zoom.us/j/71409801860?pwd=c1lhMkdWdG4wU2Y4VHBuU0tGaDMxUT09  The meeting id is 714 0980 1860 and the passcode is riptide. Check it out if interested!
  • Thanks to our families for so quickly adapting to the new, Cold Weather, policies. We apologize for the sudden launch last week but the unusually early change in seasons forced our hand. We appreciate your flexibility.
  • Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should swimmers exhibiting symptoms associated with Covid-19 and/or with a fever of 100.4 or higher attend practices. Please work together to reduce the risk of infection. If your swimmer has had contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case, you must keep them away from the pool and not return for 14 days or until you have a negative Covid test result.

Reminders

  • New Cold Weather Entry/Exit Policy – Reminders
    • Parents – It is imperative that you continue to be ON TIME for pick-ups after practice. We cannot have groups of kids in the lobby area awaiting their pick-up. Make every effort to be at Bluewater when your swimmer exits the building following their practice.
    • We will return to the traditional Riptide process for drop-off and pick-up using only the building’s front doors. This means that traffic continues to flow one-way through the lot. Drive in through the far entry we use now and out near the Elsmore driveway exit. No more drop-offs at the side/rear of building.
    • For drop-offs - pull up to the main doors and exit on the building side of the car to walk into the building. 7-Lane swimmers (Sr2, Jr-Select, 9&U, Bronze & Sr1B) enter through the dryland door to your left closest to Elsmore. 8-Lane swimmers (Sr-Elite, Gold, Silver, MSTS & Sr1A) enter through main double doors.
    • For pick-ups – Follow the one-way traffic path and pull into a parking space. Have your swimmer walk to your car. Do NOT cue-up in line for pick-ups. Parents are welcome to meet their swimmer at the exterior door if you wish.
    • Be sure your swimmer has warm clothing! Stocking caps are a must with wet hair in the cold weather.
    • EVERYONE must bring a plastic bag in which to place your boots/shoes to then be left in the assigned area prior to walking on deck. Put your shoes/boots into your bag and leave them in the assigned location (see pdf). Keep this bag in your backpack at all times so that you can use it every day. We are trying to avoid wet boots soaking the lobby carpets. After practice, you dry off and get dressed at your chair as you do now. Then proceed back collect your shoe-bag and exit the building.
    • Locker rooms are still closed except for afternoon swimmers coming directly from school.
    • Refer to the attached pdf to see the process flow for 7-Lane A&B and 8-Lane A & B. Your group is:
      • 8-Lane Process A – Sr-Elite, Silver & MSTS
      • 8-Lane Process B – Gold & SR1A
      • 7-Lane Process A – Sr2, 9&U & Bronze
      • 7-Lane Process B – Jr-Select & Sr1B
    • In summary
      • Drop and pick-up through front doors
      • Bring plastic bag in which to place boots/shoes to leave in assigned location (see pdf)
      • Masks on as normal and head to your deck chair with your bag/parka/etc.
      • Have WARM clothing…stocking caps HIGHLY recommended all winter with wet hair!
  • Age-group swimmers are encouraged to check-out our upcoming swim clinics! We have a great list of clinics listed on the homepage under Upcoming Team Events.
  • Coach Michelle Hopewell is running Private Lessons for interested swimmers during weekday hours. If you are interested, please email her directly at [email protected].
  • Covid Safety Processes –Please review the Standard Operating Procedures. Our SOP’s are subject to change and all changes will be communicated to families via email. Three critical points:
    • Masks required when not swimming. Place your masks on as soon as reasonably possible after completing your in-water practice.
    • 6-foot social distancing is required when not swimming.
    • Swimmers are not allowed to loiter in the parking lot following practices. When your practice is completed, please exit the facility and parking lot immediately. If you wish to “hang-out” please do so somewhere else.
