Riptide Swim Team

Weekly News – March 29, 2021

New Information

  • We had another fun dual meet with St Croix. Our volunteers were superb as always and the swimming was fast! Full meet results are available here.
  • Congratulations to our Sr Elite swimmers on their performance at the Long Course Speedo Sectionals meet in Indianapolis this week. We saw a lot of new best times and new Jr National and Senior National cuts!
  • Congratulations to our small group of Sr Elite high school boys who participated in the Short Course Speedo Sectional in Fargo. Evan Kindseth, Max Kasal and Matt Mortenson represented Riptide. They swam well against some stiff competition.
  • Bluewater hosted a Masters meet on Sunday morning. Our Riptide swimmers were Sara Stoltman, Karin Clemons, Jeff Clemons, Chad Manbeck, Amy Parratto and Gary Mulchow. All six took first place in their events in their respective age groups. In addition, Coach Amy set a new State Record in the 100 yard backstroke! Congratulations to everyone!
  • Riptide Photo Day – One of our very supportive parents, Brendon Stuckey, is again offering a Riptide Photo Day on April 10th from 12-4pm. Use this link to sign-up. He may be able to add additional date/time options if demand and his schedule permit. As we are being certain to follow strict Covid safety protocols, the sessions are limited to 10-minutes with only two swimmers per slot.

Reminders

  • Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should swimmers exhibiting symptoms associated with Covid-19 and/or with a fever of 100.4 or higher attend practices. Please work together to reduce the risk of infection. If your swimmer has had close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case, you must keep them away from the pool for 14 days. You may not test out of this quarantine. Please review the Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Stay home if you are not feeling well. Please err on the side of caution as one bad decision can impact numerous other swimmers and families.
    • Remember that family members sharing the same household are considered “close contact” when it comes to Covid exposure. Therefore, if a member of your family tests positive for Covid, you must quarantine from practice for 14 days. You may not “test out of quarantine”. In the event you must miss practice due to Covid exposure, please notify [email protected] and a credit will be arranged.
    • Please remind your swimmers to always wear masks at BWAC while not swimming. Send your swimmer with a small plastic baggie in which they may place their mask at the end of their lane. The mask may be taken off just prior to entering the water and must then be placed back on immediately after exiting the water.
    • Please remember to send swimmers with a plastic bag in which to place wet boots/shoes upon entering BWAC.
  • We have seen some confusion recently regarding charges for meets & clinics. We want to be clear on our billing policies. If you commit (within Team Unify) your swimmer to attend a clinic or a meet, you will be responsible for payment. We are not able to offer refunds or credits for no-shows which occur beyond the registration closure dates. If the no-show is due to a Covid-related issue, we will make every effort to recover some or all of the charges. However, this is NOT guaranteed. The team is not able to absorb these expenses if we are unable to secure refunds from the host club and/or Minnesota Swimming Inc. Thank you.
  • Riptide will NOT take a break between seasons this year. After a challenging 2020 in which we were unable to maintain our usual practice consistency, we will swim straight through the late winter/spring and into the summer. There will be limited roster changes announced by mid-April. However, we will not make any large-scale changes as would typically occur during the “normal” break period. If you have any questions, please contact your lead coach.
  • Summer Practice Schedule – We have received several inquiries about our planned summer practice schedules. It’s simply too early to have a clear view of these schedules. We hope to have this information available to families by the third week of April.
  • Beginning the week of March 22nd, our program will move to a maximum of 6/lane in our Jr-Select & Senior groups and a maximum of 5/lane in our 9&U – Gold groups.
