Weekly News – April 19, 2021

New Information

  • Our 12&U taper meet was explosive as our swimmers crushed event after event. It was a prime example of hard work and determination paying big dividends. It has been a crazy season with plenty of distractions, but our kids stepped up and delivered stellar results. You may find the 12&U Sprint Into Spring meet results here. We want to thank our tremendous volunteers for their faithful support over a long weekend of racing. We also owe a big thank you to Theresa Jurisch (our head official) and Jennifer Hutchins (our volunteer coordinator) for their tireless work to make this event possible. And one final thanks to Karl Kindseth (and his streaming sidekick Eric Vogen) for their great work throughout the meet. Many families deeply appreciate the ability to watch these meets as if they were sitting in the stands. Great work everyone!
  • The 13&O April Race Day meet is this Saturday and is the final meet of the Fall/Winter season. Keep your eyes on the meet page for all details.
  • As a result of the Saturday meet, the following changes will be implemented to the standard practice schedule:
    • Sr-E swimmers will be emailed separately
    • No Sr2 or Sr1 practices
    • Jr-S & Gold will practice from 9:30-11am
  • The summer practice schedule will be announced as a news item on Wednesday April 21. This schedule will take effect either June 7 or 14. We will announce this firm date by mid-May.

  • Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should swimmers exhibiting symptoms associated with Covid-19 and/or with a fever of 100.4 or higher attend practices. Please work together to reduce the risk of infection. If your swimmer has had close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case, you must keep them away from the pool for 14 days. You may not test out of this quarantine. Please review the Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Stay home if you are not feeling well. Please err on the side of caution as one bad decision can impact numerous other swimmers and families.
    • Remember that family members sharing the same household are considered “close contact” when it comes to Covid exposure. Therefore, if a member of your family tests positive for Covid, you must quarantine from practice for 14 days. You may not “test out of quarantine”. In the event you must miss practice due to Covid exposure, please notify [email protected] and a credit will be arranged.
    • Please remind your swimmers to always wear masks at BWAC while not swimming. Send your swimmer with a small plastic baggie in which they may place their mask at the end of their lane. The mask may be taken off just prior to entering the water and must then be placed back on immediately after exiting the water.
    • Please remember to send swimmers with a plastic bag in which to place wet boots/shoes upon entering BWAC.
  • Lead coaches will announce all practice roster changes by the end of April. Our coaching staff invests a great deal of time in these moves with the goal of providing the best practice environment for each swimmer. Any changes to your practice roster will begin on May 3rd.
  • We have seen some confusion recently regarding charges for meets & clinics. We want to be clear on our billing policies. If you commit (within Team Unify) your swimmer to attend a clinic or a meet, you will be responsible for payment. We are not able to offer refunds or credits for no-shows which occur beyond the registration closure dates. If the no-show is due to a Covid-related issue, we will make every effort to recover some or all of the charges. However, this is NOT guaranteed. The team is not able to absorb these expenses if we are unable to secure refunds from the host club and/or Minnesota Swimming Inc. Thank you.
