COVID-19 Procedures and Policies at Asphalt Green

  • A face covering is required to enter the facility for anyone over age 2. Coverings may be cloth-based or disposable but may not include bandanas, buffs, or gaiters per New York State mandate. Face coverings must cover your nose and mouth and are always required except when swimming or participating in a youth program or camp where the instructor indicates a socially distanced activity.
  • Every member and program user is required to sign a code of conduct agreement acknowledging understanding of Asphalt Green’s new COVID-19 procedures. Members and program users must agree not to visit the facility if experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms outlined by the CDC. Asphalt Green has a no-tolerance policy for non-compliance. Members violating any COVID-19 safety procedures risk having their membership temporarily or permanently revoked; program users will have their visitation rights suspended or terminated.
  • Parent/caretaker limited to one per program user for children under age 14.
  • All visitors must follow new floor markings and indicators to allow for social distancing. All stairwells are designated one-way except in case of emergency.
  • Check-in and entry process to the facility is contactless through use of key cards and electronic sensor gates. Floor markings indicate where customers needing assistance can wait.
  • Loitering is prohibited in lobby. Parent pickup for kids in programs is outdoors. Lobby seating is reserved for elderly/disabled.
  • Elevators are reserved for elderly and disabled with a maximum capacity of three riders per car.
  • Café and common areas are closed at both locations until further notice.
  • Trained staff members are stationed throughout the facility to answer any questions and reinforce our new policies.

  • A face covering is required at all times in the fitness center. Coverings may be cloth-based or disposable but may not include bandanas, buffs, or gaiters.
  • Members must wipe down equipment before and after use.
  • All fitness equipment is socially distanced.
    • Every other cardio machine (treadmill, elliptical) is disabled.
    • Every piece of equipment is single user; sharing a workout station is prohibited.
    • Spotting is prohibited unless a member is in danger. Please choose weight appropriately.  
  • Open workout areas are designed to implement social distancing. Floor markings indicate individual workout areas; one user per designated space.
  • Towel service is discontinued. Members must bring their own towels as needed.
  • Shared reading materials (magazines, printed schedules, etc.) are removed.
  • No group exercise classes until further notice.

  • All swimmers are required to wear face coverings when traveling to and from the pool deck. Face coverings may only be removed when the swimmer is entering the water. Swimmers are responsible for bringing their own bag to store their face covering in designated areas on the pool deck.  
  • Towel service is discontinued. Members must bring their own towels as needed.
  • Swim coaches and instructors will wear face coverings at all times when not in the water.
  • Swimmers will be assigned a water entry point and a rest point so swimmers are not congregating anywhere in the water or on the deck.
  • Pool and water cleaning systems are fastidiously maintained, including disinfection with chlorine. A UV filtration system also disinfects our pools.
  • BioOx air purification system installed on the pool deck removes chlorine particles and improves air quality. The recently installed CASPR air filtration system neutralizes aerosolized viruses, including COVID-19.

  • Asphalt Green upgraded its HVAC air filtration system with CASPR (Continuous Air and Surface Pathogen Reduction) technology, the same system that services general surgery units in hospitals, and MERV 13 filters, which is the standard set by the State.
  • New, more thorough and frequent cleaning and sanitization procedures and schedule in place.  Our cleaning vendor, Safety Facility Services, is an industry leader who services hospital, commercial and education clients, among others. Safety has updated all of its protocols in light of COVID-19 and is utilizing the highest standard of cleaning and disinfecting.
  • All cleaning staff wear disposable face coverings and gloves at all times when inside the facility.
  • High-traffic areas are sanitized hourly.
  • EPA-registered disinfectants, which are designated effective against the COVID-19, are used for all continuous and deep-cleaning processes.
  • Disposable cloths and pre-moistened disinfectant wipes are utilized to avoid potential cross contamination and spread of bacteria/viruses.
  • Next generation electrostatic handheld and back-pack sprayers, which efficiently attack microbes, are used to fully disinfect all areas of the facility on a nightly basis.

    • Eucalyptus Steam Room Cleaner
    •  Elite Hi-Con Disinfectant and Deodorizer   
    • Elite Fresh Breeze Disinfectant Restroom Cleaner
    • OxiPlus Peroxide Disinfectant
    • Tile Brite Mold & Mildew Remover
  • No-touch hand sanitizer dispensers are available in all high-traffic areas, including lobbies and fitness centers.
  • Drinking fountains inside the facility are disabled for direct consumption; water bottle refill stations only.
  • No-touch garbage cans replace traditional bins so trash can be deposited without contact.
