In our first travel meet in over a year, Empire took first in team combined score, men’s team and second for the women! Ashley Hu set a new team 100 Meter Breaststroke record of 1:11.16 and Jack Kelly set a new Empire and Metro record with a 100 Meter Breaststroke time of 1:02.56 and swam a 200 Meter Breaststroke time of 2:17.15 qualifying him in both events for the 2021 US Olympic Trials in Omaha! ***MORE EXCITING NEWS REGARDING COVID-19 VACCINE ELIGIBILITY*** It was announced this afternoon that the FDA has approved Pfizer and BioNTech's request to allow their COVID-19 vaccine to be given to kids ages 12 to 15 on an emergency use basis. This brings us and our kids one step closer to getting back to something closer to normal sooner rather than later. Congratulations to Purchase Lightning swimmer Liam O'Byrne, and Hackley Xcel swimmer Elias Garcia who set new team records at this weekend's Empire February Time Trial Meet! Liam set new record times of 1:12.82 in the Mens 8 & Under 100 Freestyle, and a 3:02.39 in the Men's 8 & Under 200 IM. Elias set a new record in the Men's 13-14 50 Butterfly of 25.71. Empire Swimming is proud to congratulate both Ashley Hu and Jack Kelly on earning the title of Scholastic All-American. This honor is given to 9-12th grade students who maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average and have swum an individual pool time equal to or faster than the 2019 Winter Junior qualifying time in any individual event from August 16, 2019-August 31, 2020.

Congratulations to the Empire Girls on a fantastic High School Section One Championships! We had 26 girls swim fast enough in prelims to qualify for finals occupying 30% of all the top 16 spots. With over 40% of the top 8 spots at Section 1 Champs being taken by our girls with multiple top 3 finishes.
