Metropolitan Swimming stands with our community against racist actions, incendiary statements, and violence against any person. This means we must engage individuals throughout our member community in tough conversations about inequalities, identify the signs of systematic racism, and share proven solutions.

With a heavy heart and shock, I write you to inform you of the unexpected passing of Patriot Swim Team Coach Marc Rizzo. Service Information Below:

Services for Marc Rizzo will be held on Saturday, April 1 2023 from 2pm to 6pm at McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82. Hopewell Junction, NY 12533.

Marc exemplified all the qualities of a true coach. Not only have athletes of all levels flourished under his care and guidance, but all who knew him can speak to his relentless positive energy and deep care for his family, friends, and athletes. Marc understood the responsibility that comes with being a mentor of young people. He led by example by treating everyone around him with respect and care.

His coaching highlights, while secondary to his impact on the lives of those he knew, were numerous. He developed young athletes to achieve Junior Olympic, Eastern Zone, High School State, Senior Met, Sectional, Futures, NCSA, USA Swimming Junior Nationals, and Nationals levels. Marc swam at Cornell University and trained under some of the top coaches in the history of the sport of swimming. His unique approaches to competitive swimming brought his athletes great success in the pool.

His passion for the sport of swimming was on display daily within his own circles and outwardly to clubs and athletes around him. You often found a congratulatory message from Marc in the comments of posts celebrating athlete performances, whether it was his athlete or one of another club. The sport of swimming and all those involved meant so much to him.

We can all honor Marc by supporting each other and bringing positivity along with us wherever we go.
