This scholarship recognizes Len Galluzzi's dedication over 5 decades to both competitive age group and senior swimming and to honor his strength of character in overcoming obstacles in the later years of his career. Len was named to the Metro Hall of Fame as a coach, and had tenures with Gotham Aquatic Association, Gotham Aqua Kings, Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics, Flushing YMCA, New York Aquatic Club and Columbia University. As an athlete, Galluzzi was an NCAA All American, swimming for Adelphi University, where he was a team and pool record holder and Hall of Fame inductee. Len passed away in 2015, Those of us who knew and loved Lenny are humbled each and every day by the legacy of his strength of character and sheer will he possessed to push through all the adversity that befell him. This award, in his honor, goes to the 2 Metro Swimmers who best exemplified that same inner strength and fortitude.
