NDAC COVID-19 UPDATE

SPRING

NDAC's Short Course Season came to an abrupt halt on March 13 due to Covid-19. Bard College closed Steveson Gymnasium and Pool. All 2020 SC Championship Meets, NDAC's End of Season Banquet and then Long Course Meets were all cancelled.

Through the tireless efforts and tenacity of Coach Storrs and with special thanks to the Red Hook Pool, NDAC was able to start practicing again on July 6.

NDAC is very proud of our coaches and swimmers for everyone's adherance to strict Covid-19 guidelines to keep our swimmers and our community safe this summer.

SUMMER

In July NDAC started small with 24 NDAC Long Course swimmers, one swimmer per lane.

In August NDAC was able to increase the number of swimmers practicing to 36 (4 swimmers in double-wide lanes to maintain 6' spacing). Many of our younger (Group 2) swimmers were able to start practicing again.

SEPTEMBER

In September NDAC was able to increase to 48 swimmers practicing in 4 Practice Groups, including 12 Group 2 swimmers. Outdoor practices continued through 9/19 when water temperatures becamse too cold to continue. Great job to all the NDAC swimmers who braved the cold September water!

PRESENT PLANS

Bard College has made the decision to close its campus to all outside groups and community programs due to Covid 19. Bard will reassess this policy in January. In the meantime, NDAC is  working hard to keep swimmers swimming. For any swimming available, first priority will be given to returning NDAC swimmers.

Swimmers new to NDAC should email [email protected] to be added to our emai list to recieve updates.
Please include your swimmer's age and a brief description of his/her swim experience/ability.

Coach Storrs and the NDAC Parent Board are  looking at any and all alternative local pool options to keep NDAC swimming.

For the month of November, NDAC had space for 24 swimmers at the Catskill Recreation Center in Arkville, NY.

For the month of December, NDAC has speace for 36 swimmers age 11+ and 18 swimmers age 10 and under. Younger swimmers will swim at the Ulster County YMCA. Older swimmers will swim at both the YMCA and at the Catskill recreation Center. Please see Registration for more details.
